Greetings all,

First let me say im not a poster as you can tell, but ive been reading these boards for years.

A few years ago some friends and I got talking about starting a guild on Prexus called Retro Raiders. Reading through the posts i see many are all talking about the "good old days" of EQ. The Guild would be just that. All the old zones. Players would only be limited to only having gear and crap from old game. I myself said up to Planes after that game got water downed IMO. A few stated up to Velious and nothing after.

My questions then is would any be interested? I left the game a few years ago and have been disappointed many many times with the crap thats out in the name of MMO's lately. I been thinking about coming back, but want to try something different. I played a SK to 65. Yep, ive been gone a long time.

Anyway, flame, post away on what you all think. I know the game isnt the same and has changed a bunch over the years. Zones have been redone ( Neriak, Freeport  ) etc. How does Kael armor sound on a 50 cleric with epic 1? Just an idea.

To me old EQ wasn't about raiding. There were 2 raid targets, and the loot wasn't spectacular. Then with each expansion grouping was less and less emphasized, until finally we have the product we have today.

I'm only interested in grouping, not staring at my screen zerging one mob.

If your a raider why would you even quit EQ? Its the best out there.

The "good old days" of EQ

    • is not
    • never was
    • and never will be

    about raiding.

Raiding is what killed the "good old days" of Everquest.

I disagree raiding isnt what killed EQ it was the people that wanted the high end gear w/o working for it.  What killed EQ was expansions that had no business being released. EQ was great up to planes. After planes it took a downturn. This is just my opinion.  I find that games at the top end do loose alot. Vanguard was good up to 45 even with its rough start.

Some of my best memories and game play was getting flags in PoP. Agian im only speaking of MY experience. I know and understand that it wasnt for everyone.

I am glad SOE decided to removing flagging from EQ altogether.
