Looking for a game that has alot of grouping

4Renziks4Renziks Member UncommonPosts: 390

Here is what i label in order of importance

1. Grouping- must be a game that the community loves to group

2. Character classes- diverse and balanced classes

3. Style/look/cool armor/graphics- cool armor graphics and good style,  not too worried about overall graphics

4. Monthly fee or totally free...No item shop BS

I played COH for a long time (2yrs) and i need a new game.  I loved the grouping aspect in that game but wish there was armor and the look of your character changes. as you evolve through the game.  I played WOW for awhile and got bored because no one would group with me unless its an instance.  Then i went to LOTRO and had the same issues.  is there anything else out there that fits this criterea?  monthly fee is not of great importance, but iam not a fan of item shops, i rather just pay a monthly fee... thanks

playing: Dragon Age
Waiting: for FF14, Mass Effect
Want to try: Fallen Earth

    Tough one.

Not sure what guild wars is like these days but it was good for grouping when I played and it is subscription free.

TR is alright if you can get into it. Char diversity is not there for me and the balance will get better as it matures.

EQ2 is good for grouping and community but you need to get the right server and a good guild. Classes are well balanced but typical fantasy types.

Just my own opinion but hope it helps

To err is human....to play is divine

I am in the exact same boat as the OP..

I can't resub to WoW or LOTRO since those games are designed around soloing except raiding/instances.

I couldn't get into EQ2 no matter how hard I tried.

CoH/V is a great game yet after three+ years it does wish you had more..

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

EQ2 can be good only if you have a gulid that will mentor or has alot of lower level people in it that want to group. Other then that you will pretty much solo till the higher lvls, that is where all the grouping is in that game these days.  70+

Im playing it now, and on a pretty populated server, playing at or near its prime time , ive had 2 or 3 groups from 1-35.

No other game like this one!! it call 2moons

    1. Group? yes it is mandatory, czu hunting in those dungeon require group (max group is 6ppl)

    2. 6 class, 2 melee, 1 ranger, 1 magician, 1 ninja type(assassinate), (1 whip user, best aoe class)

    3. Graphic is good, the melee have best looking armor,

    4. FREE, it really FREE it mean you dont necessary need those CASH ITEM to help you. I found out this game is very fair, czu the cash item only sell Dress (which dont give  you any bonus) or Auto-healing Potion. Dont be lazy just press shortkey to pump heal potion.

    1. Grouping - EVE - The main problem of the game is just cuz ppl group a lot and the nodes crashes in fleet battles. There are, still, some viable options to solo the game, OFC, but that is a sure way to bore yourself soon doing thousands of missions against NPC and that is why I canceled my 3 accounts 2 months ago, it was only my fault.

    2. Character classes - EVE - In fact, you can be whatever you want with only 1 Char, but that will cost you a huge time. The best way to be effective is focusing your skill training in one course, be it combat, industrial or any other, but you can manage to make a Jack-of-all-trades (Master-of-none) in some time but, again, I would not advise doing it. Most of the veterans EVE players have 2, 3 or even more accounts and that is to have focused Chars in each one. My 3 accounts were 1 caldari missionrunner with 35mil SP, 1 caldari industrialist and researcher with 30mil SP and 1 caldari (speced in flying Gallente) focused in PvP combat with 15mil SP.

    3. Style/look/cool armor/graphics - EVE - When you train to fly some new ship and first get into it in the station is amazing, never got that feeling in all other MMO I've played in these almost 10 years playing MMO (before that only solo games). Your avatar is a ship and you will get used to it and will love it more than using a new set of armor, believe me. The guys in CCP are always working in the graphics, last expansion was a huge change in this aspect.

    4. Monthly fee or totally free - EVE - monthly fees only, although It has a GTC selling that, IMHO, bought the game to be not that it used to be in the past, now you can trade your real cash for ISK within CCP rules using the GTC selling system. Anyways, in game ISK for real cash was always an issue with the ISK farmers and it's selling sites, just CCP got the business for them.

PS: I'm not playing EVE anymore, but my friends are always calling me in the phone to reactivate my accounts and I don't doubt I will be back cuz, as you can see, I love that game... I'm just in a bored state right now, playing some other MMOs (at least giving a try) and other solo games.

Good luck out there, be it in any MMO you find that suits your taste.

    Best regards

VG or EQ2 depend if you are looking more freedom in game or more raiding hightend content. EVE is also posibility but he is very different type of gameplay - the best sandbox gameplay currently on the market.

    Try out Dofus.

Grouping: Grouping is mostly optional, but the battle system supports grouping and makes it overall much more effective than not grouping. So (if you don't count the newbie areas) people often want to group.

Character classes: The class balance isn't perfect, but the classes are very diffirent from each other, and each class can usually do something useful while in a group. Also the game isn't too restrictive on what classes have to be in a group, nearly any combination of classes works well as a group.

Style/graphics: The graphics are quite crap. And you can either like the style or not like it, you have to see it for yourself.

Monthly fee: The game has large free to play area. And to venture beyond that you have to pay 5 euros/month monthly fee. No item shop, so playing is cheap.

And something you didn't ask: Dofus is an MMO with turn based combat. Max of 8 players (and max of 8 enemies) take turns attacking each other. The battle system is unique, at least I haven't seen anything similar in any other MMO, and skill and strategy play a larger role than in many real time MMOs. You'll either love the battle system or hate it.

The combat, and game mechanics generally, are quite fun. But the game is very grindy, especially after the newbie area. Combat is a grind, harvesting is a grind, even crafting is sometimes a grind. But I suggest testing it because the combat makes it so diffirent from everything else, unless you absolutely hate everything turn based. The client download is quite small (something like 100mb download), you can download it for free and test the game for free.

Try DDO grouping is the norm as all quests are designed for a group, apart from the solo setting.  Looking for groip or member UI is well designed and the community is mature.
    2. Character classes- diverse and balanced classes
9 classes (soon to be 10) and you can multi-class up to three of them. Add on top feats, skills and enhancements and you don't get two builds the same. Also has active combat, you can dodge, block and avoid projectiles. As for balanced, well they are balanced for group play in quests, rather than against each other.
    3. Style/look/cool armor/graphics- cool armor graphics and good style,  not too worried about overall graphics
Can't really answer this one I like to play a Warforged, but their armours (docents) look good.

    Bump...

Im searching for the same thing. I want a difficult game that resembles EQ1.

Try Lord of the Rings Online.

Yes, you >can< Solo (very boring).

But, the whole premise is Fellowship play.

And the further you get, the more and more Fellowship quests you get.

The PvP >must< be done grouped.  Does not matter if you are playing Monster or Free Peoples; to venture far from home Solo is to die.  Lots. And fast.

Key is to actually start and join Fellowships.  They fill up fast, so if someone is calling for help, respond right away.  Start your own, you will get members quickly.

    Good Hunting

    I would suggest Vanguard.

It has improved loads since launch and it can be picked up cheap from most online retailer or Ebay.

Grouping can be a little slow to start with, but once you hit the late teens, low twenties grouping kicks of.  VG has loads of great dungeons to explore, some good quest chains which reward you with some nice loot (which you need to group to complete).

Classes in VG are IMO the best out of the current MMO's.  All classes are welcome in groups/raids.

Graphics are good and with the latest game update hitching and performance has improved greatly.

Also you have different mounts which you get early in the game, flying mounts, boats and player housing and guild halls which are not instances but a part of the game world.
