How important is Willpower?

I'm curious, how important is willpower for a fighter? I keep seeing conflicting advice saying it's a great and a poor attribute to have, and it seems like it doesn't have alot of primary skills using it. Will there be more Willpower skills added with the Shiva upgrade? Can a pure fighter sacrifice Memory for Willpower, or will that hurt later?

It is important, ,more so for combat pilots than anything else, however, like everything, it's a balancing act, you need a whole pile of other skills that do not rely on Willpower, so balance it out, Willpower is important but so is everything else.

willpower is for leadership, and as a secondary to combat and spaceship command - its good. i have equal perc and willpower, and i like it :P

If u want to be a fighter willpower is verry usefull specially to all tec 2 ships, but as some1 else pointed out u will need many other skills like engineering, electronics, mechanics, navigation, wich require other attributes like intel and memory.
