    I play Vanguard.

I tried closed beta of AoC and all I can say is I'm sticking to Vanguard for now.

I hope Stargate Worlds will be something new.

After a couple trys at WoW I threw away my disks for it and installed Eve.  I'll play AoC also but keep my Eve account.

I played WoW for a little while and simply just didn't enjoy it.  Didn't like the cartoony graphics, or spinning in circles trying to find everything.  After one session where my character died and I ended up spending nearly three hours trying to find the body I stopped playing.

I now play EQ2 exclusively.  It's actually fun.  I'm pretty busy so 1 mmo is more than enough for me.

Nothing.  MMORPGs are too EQ-like and don't offer that much freedom to be honest.  It is sad that I feel more open ended content in a game like Oblivion than in most MMORPGs.  MMORPG developers are just not interested in creating worlds anymore, they are more interested in creating theme parks.

The last game I played was Eve, but in that game you are forced to join guilds (Though it was the Trinity release XP screw up that made me decide to cancel).  Eve also does not feel like a world, it feels more like a Strategy Game and you are the little zergling.  Eve's world feeling goes away when you realize you are basically cannon fodder to be respawned and killed over and over again.  You can't make your mark upon eve, you are only a cog really.  (Through the support of legit scams in Eve is something really cool and should be stolen by other developers looking to push the limits of MMORPGs)

The last MMORPG I really liked was SWG, but then they NGE'd it.  SWG felt like a world where you could make your own way and were not really forced to do anything.  But SOE/LA decided to throw all of that away because they did not want to take time to fix and develop a game they released to early.  Now I wait for the SWG  Pre-CU Australian birds that can't be named here and Fallen Earth.  I don't have much faith in either really, I just want to play in a virtual world again.

I also play Unreal tournament 3, I like the PvP in UT3, I love the simple non elitist feel of PSU, where gear and overall popularity or guilds don't mean anything. Hellgate I play because it is free, If I had too choose 1 game to stick with 1 online game that is, I would pick Monster hunter, Because it is a very casual online adventure game, that really gives you that feel of Guild wars or Phantasy star but it was free 2 play. (Cant wait for MH3 on Wii)

so why do you come here if you dont like MMORPGs?

Im hoping that some day they make an mmorpg without levels or very Monster hunterish, Casual, no real grind, and no real way to hack it because all rare or valuable items are Bind on pickup, and you play online with people. And the off topic forums are fun to go to.

They do have a Monster Hunter MMO...but it will never get sent over to here...sadly

What are you playing (MMO or not) and why? I am honestly just curious to see what games you play and why you play them. (Try to give a good explanation as to why you play/like it.) Once again. I am not a WoW fan boy, it's honestly a serious question I have.
I started playing FFXI because of its predecessors. If you have ever been involved with previous final fantasy games, you would know the effort that goes into them ,especially when you consider they are console efforts. So i had to try FFXI and found it amazing. It had story/thinking/realism and most of all the best combat system EVER designed. As i hung around longer i found it also had the best community i have ever seen in a game.

Wow was a game that was in reality drawn from nothing. It's entire makeup was a complete copy of everquest.I still tried it twice but in reality it was the community that drove me away more so than the game. After a few things got me pissed off in FFXI i decided to play EQ2 for 18 months and actually found the game extremely good.Without getting into details,i may have stayed playing EQ2,but decided to leave. It sent me right back to FFXI.

The biggest problem i see in the whole MMO industry is not "SOLO friendly" but more so games that can stand the test of time.By this i mean games that players can start anytime and still feel like the game just started for everyone.Instead games choose to hang onto there clientel by adding new zones that alienate them further away from noobs making noob zones barren and obsolete only a few months after launch.Sure a few players may go back and re roll alts or whatever other reason but EVERY single game out there, still alienates vets from noobs, making it so newer players do not want to join an older game.As an example i went back to WOW for a second time and re rolled a new player, and even though it has the largest sub base ,the noob zones felt dead, and didn't give me the feeling of being in an MMO.I feel a livelier atmosphere playing in a 8 player server in unrealtournament.

Well, i enjoyed WoW's trial. I didn't enjoy after the first day. What seemed all polished and new for me was just a boring mmo. Don't get me wrong, im pretty open! The battle system itself seemed boring. Mages seemed a little overpowered. PvP was perfect though, just the slight problem i had with paladins.

I am trying to find a game right now. Still i like MapleStory, Mabinogi, and Diablo 1. I am waiting for some mmos. Like Scions of Fate is good, or was i havvn't played for a year now. MapleStory never seems to change really. With all those games i feel RuneScape was one ofthe funnest.

    1) RuneScape might make you go blind in hideousnous. Though ugly games aren't terrible.

    2) RuneScape has good humour.

    3) Clicking isn't fun but quests are. ;D

4)Nothing don't count this one i just like saying bye. ;D

Same here.  Nothing.  Waiting for the next non-themepark MMO...

I am not too fond of WoW, tried the trial and it didn't do it for me.

Currently playing DDO, been there since pre-release. The combat system and character creation do it for me. No two fights are ever the same and the ability to create almost any idea you have for a character seem to be keeping me pretty entertained so far for two+ years.

I am currently playing City of Heroes/Villains. I've been playing for 3 years and am still in love with it. Free expansions (12th coming up soon!), amazing costume customization, community, gameplay, and really cool devs.

EvE Online - Its one of the few good sandbox games out there that has proven to be successful.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

I've played wow and guild wars for a long time and i still love those games, now I return to it sometimes

I'v also played EVE online for a little while, I liked it but it's just not my type of game.

I've recenty tried some f2p mmo's like Dungeon Runners (wish was rlly fun ^^) and archlord (also nice but for some reason it crashes a lot)

At the moment I don't play mmo's, I play CSS ^^ but that's just because I have a buzzy period right now in real life.. so I have not so mush time to play computergames

But I'm thinking of buying a new game in the near future. I don't know yet  what game it will be

maby AOC? maby LOTRO? or shall i wait for TCOS?

    waiting for ... nothing..

I play Airrivals, I like it because the pvp system gives you a lot more satisfaction.

    Vanguard

Huge World and Tons of content.  I have been playing since release and I still have not explored all of  it or done all the quest lines.

I like the crafting system; complex and you can produce items that are at least as good as dropped item

Diplomacy is a unique feature that I enjoy and can be addicting, but just have not had the time to devote to yet.

I like the player housing; I had missed since that since SWG.

More classes than I will ever have time to try out.

I'm really not playing much, to be honest, because most MMOs that are out there aren't what I want to play.  Right now, I do get on Anarchy Online occasionally, just to mess around, but I'm not taking it at all seriously.

I've played EVE, but as others have said, you're just cannon fodder there and for someone like me that detests PvP with a passion, it's just not for me.  Besides, I want to play a CHARACTER, not a ship.  Sure, the graphics look impressive until you realize that 99.999999% of everything you see is just window dressing.  All those planets, all those moons, you can't explore any of them because they're just part of the wallpaper.  No thanks.

Give me a sci-fi game with real roleplaying, no levels and an adult, intelligent player base and I'm all over it.  Until then... screw MMOs.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None
