I'd help, but I've played the game for four 1/2 months and haven't found a clan I liked.
Of course, only 2 clans actually asked, one actually just keeps hitting "Invite to Clan" every time he sees me (I guess he does it to every clanless person) and the other clan has someone I dislike in it (stole my spot, once).
Really though, you have two general options: you can pick a newer clan, which lets you experience the game with perhaps a fresher view, and you can do the clan quests yourself.
Or you can pick an older established clan, which probably has a lot of perks, like advice from clan members and possibly some hand me down gear, but you miss out on doing the clan quests and sometimes long time players can be jaded (and jerks )
Well, now that I think about it, there are also clans along language lines. On Orepeisa, I think there's a couple of Brazilian ones, and I've seen one for Spanish speakers
