well, I've been on vacation from work, and I put a LOT of play time in. There's no damn way anyone can hit 80 in three days. It's just not possible.
Complete lies. Many people will be lvl 80 before the three day period ends. AoC does not have 10 days of content.
3 days to 80? Nope sorry the only ways gonna happen is if someone goes at it 24/7 and no doubt some will try. Level 30-40 maybe, 80? I don't think so.
Developers often aim the levelling rate at a player enjoying the game for an "average" number of hours per day.
Normally someone complains that they've either reached max level sooner than they thought they should have, or that the leveling is taking too long.
In both cases, either the amount of time those people are playing the game per day differs to what the developers consider "average", or the amount of time that the developers considered as an "average" was way off from what it actually is. Normally its the former, rather than the latter.
Obviously, no developer would consider that an average person would play an MMO for 24 hours per day. Hence if someone reaches level 80 in AoC in 3 days AND then complains, then they have no argument whatsoever. Developers cannot cater for such a playstyle.
Therefore, in the example being discussed in this thread, it is the fault of the player, not the developers.
So, I'm sorry but anyone who constantly plays the game for 3 days solid without sleep needs some serious help. They're either fame hungry, or too stupid to consider that any complaints they might have about the leveling curve are meaningless. If they're doing it purely for the fame of doing it the fastest, they certainly won't earn any respect from me. They've just wasted a full months worth of subscription in doing so. Games aren't about how efficient you are in leveling, they are about enjoying the game. And no one can enjoy a game by hitting maximum level in 3 days. They haven't enjoyed the level, they've just enjoyed the process of levelling.
Btw.....I'm told that people hit max level very quickly simply because each time there was a wipe of the characters in AoC's beta, contests took place immediately after to hit maximum level the fastest. Which many did in shifts with their friends 24/7 in order to win. Tbh, this is a very shrewd tactic on behalf of Funcom, because it helps them monitor the leveling curve.
However, this by no means reflects the "average" amount of time it will take players to hit level 80.
