Barbarian or Assasin?

So,what would you choose? A frag killer or a single dpser?

Who do you think will be most usefull on sieges and who on pve content?

What are the pros and cons, among these 2 classses?

i wouldent count on either of em.. they maybe strong as in assasin dmg wise and barb in hp but i still think biggest dps would be some class that can heal him self or a caster especialy in pvp games.

its all about survival not only dmg

I would say Assasin because of there stealth and alot of folks do not train there Preception to detect them.

You can Respec Feats and Skills... but cost a bit.

    Barb or Ass

for me it would be Barbarian because they have better CC.

both gain similar and equal benefits from stealth as they are both from the rogue line of classes, along with the ranger. Both will be the most popular classes simply because this and they are strictly melee. Anyone who has played MMORPGs long enough understands the importance of having the oppurtunity to plan your battle, and not only, but to surprise your target and limit them from escaping. Both these classes offer this trait exceptionally.

A barbarian has, generally, better survivability than it's counter-part. If you spec in it you can gain a stance that allows you to evade enemies and regenerate health sufficiently more than other classes, you have a noticeable large amount of hp than the assassin, and the choice of light armor rather than silk armor. The barbarian can focus on either dual wielding (for the most part used against single targets) or two-handed (massive AoE damage and effects). Either way the barbarian is going to deal a massive blow to other characters, including soldier classes.

The assassin has less survivability. Depending on where you spec you can find some decent heals but you're generally not going to be able to last as long as a barbarian in a fight. This is countered by the fact that this character deals, not necessarily more damage, but much faster damage. Combos mostly consist of one swing, and each one has beneficial effects.

The barbarian is built for the best damage overall, while the assassin is good for spiking and solo play. Both are very similar, though. Not much difference other than fighting style and some differences in RPing if you are into that. They will both serve useful purposes on a team, and the same going for solo play. Specifics on what both classes will be aimed for in a group... we can't really say as of now. As we don't know the generic group play for this game, as it hasn't even released yet, we can't really judge perfectly what each will be used for in a group specifically.

Barbarian - Front lines swinging with a 2hand and using Battle Cries.

Assassin - Sneaking behind and killing off healers and casters.

hmm...what if u replace the assasin with the barbarian?i mean cant u kill healers and mages while sneaking as an assasin, cause still ur a stealthy rogue class

yes barbarian can also sneak, the question will be how many skillpoints barbarians will put into sneaking in endgame or if they would rather pick other skills.

I tried both in beta and on low levels they seemed not that different but barbarian did betetr when fighting multiple enemies.  A problem i noticed with barbarian was that it was impossible for me to find good 2handers in tortage, i found multiple 1handers with nearly same dps than the few 2handers that i have seen. Hope when it goes live there will be better 2handers, else i might have to spec for dualwield line.
