Difference between PVP and RP-PVP

MahjeMahje Member Posts: 135

Any idea's on how these 2 server types will differ from eachother?

I haven't decided on were to start my main char, i don't consider myself as a roleplayer but i somehow believe that the RP-PVP will have a better balance and less ganking. So what should i expect from the RP-PVP server since i have never played on a RP server before?

Probably won't be anything 'cept a policy difference. Stricter name enforcement, social rules skewed towards protecting roleplaying and maybe an official "OOC" channel. None of which I've actually read Funcom will do, but there'll be no mechanical differences in gameplay, so it must be what's typical of RP servers in other games.

On a normal PVP server , when you gank someone while they are respawning you say "I owned u noob"

On a role play PVP server you say, " I doest thou ownest thou noob!

As I have found with other MMOs, most recently and inparticular; LOTRO, the vast majority of the players on RP servers did not RP. Or at least they spent little time doing so. However, I did find that the average age and mental age (most importantly) was higher than that of the normal servers.

    Cheers

Surely that would be 'ownest thee noob'?

I agree with other people, where to make a character on a RP Server you should have to fill out some sort of a RP sheet, or questionaire before hand.

The RP-PVP has extended rules against ganking and the like, and the community is more tightly nit, and will react in harsh ways to the nitwits who will waste their own time by trying to do the whole ganker thing. The entire community will smash down any such group.  So if you were thinking that it being an rp server will give you an easy, free pvp ride.. you will just end up rerolling on a normal pvp server, and end up far behind the people there.

Remember, RP != not able to pvp.  Far from it, many many of us are quite looking forward to pvp.

Landroval is full of RPers in Lotro... I used to RP there quite often and never really had much trouble randomly starting up with some strangers hehe.  I do agree about the 'maturity' though.

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
