nvidia card problems?

AmafiAmafi Member Posts: 80

Hi all, posted in another thread about difficulties getting into early access, and hoped someone might be able to shed some light on the problems I'm having..

Im using Xp pro, 2x nvidia 8800 gtx cards (768) in SLI with the latest drivers and cannot enter game.

After clicking on play, I can hear sound but I get a message stating my drivers have failed and am sat looking at a warped picture of my desktop with massive gfx..

Earlier drivers result in BSOD and have tried simple config/verify and repair files to no avail.

My system is more than capable of playing this game, but I would like to hear from anyone who is experiencing similar problems or anyone who can offer a solution.

Thanks in advance,

Amafi

try disabling SLI would be my suggestion. Age of Conan (like most games for some reason) doesnt support SLI

Ive seen a few posts on funcom's tech support site where they say FPS goes way down with SLI on.

I got an nvidia driver hs failed and has succsesfully recovered error before. It wasnt during a game however. I think i needed to enable downspread spectrum for my sata drive in bios. You can try that if you have the option.

I had the same problem with 2 9600 gt's in SLI, and in order for me to get it to work I had to roll back my drivers to 174.74...give that a try.

As far as low fps with SLI on...don't have that problem i am getting 80-95 fps in game.

Thanks for all replies, tried SLi off but still didn't work :(

Can't be arsed to try anything else tonight as I'm too tired and more than a little drunk..

WIll try other possible solutions tomorrow and will let you know how I get on.

Same for me. No way am i disabling my SLI to play. I play many games that don't have a problem with SLI mode why should AOC. Maybe they should take care of it on their end.

what resolution are you running at?

    Trying changing the shader options.

Hello all, just came back to tell you that I have managed to enter the game (well, at least I'm at the login screen)

The problem was that the game would not run at the resolution I had it set at.

    My resolution was 1900 X 1200 and I had to dumb it down to 1280 x 1080.

I'm going to try and enable other stuff like SLI to see how that affects it, but I know at least it wasn't the drivers nor was it the shaders.

Thank you for all of your suggestions..I was just about to cancel the game tbh..A lack of support by Funcom at this stage does not bode well.

This is no time to take down official forums and disable registration!!

Hope this may help anyone experiencing similar problems.

Running 2 x 8800 gtx card in SLI. AoC runs ok for about 30-45 minutes, high settings with 16x antialiasing, after which the screen starts to flicker and game basically locks up (getting maybe 1 frame per 2 sec). Error message in windows "your graphics card stopped responding". The problem continues with browser after shutting down AoC from task manager. Rebooting restores the normal state. Going to disable the SLI next to see how the game runs without and if its stable.
