the problem with the griefing in most cases, is that its not nearly as organized as some of you are making it out to be.  It definitely isnt as glorified as some of you are making it out to be.

for instance, its usually individuals ganking you before you zone in.  You go into a zone to do a quest and see a loading screen, when you zone completely in you're an inch from your life with 2 people hacking at you and die almost instantly.  The whole time theyre jumping around and when you die theyre already down around a hallway.  Sometimes they camp, sometimes they leave and you never see them again.

you cant counter that no matter how you want to paint it.  Its very widespread.  There are some groups that hang around places for long stretches of time but theyre dealt with soon enough.  Its the lone wolves and random people who just zip in to a spawn point, kill the first lowbie they see and vanish.  For all you know you've grouped with them before or will be helping them in a quest 20 minutes later because you never caught their name.

If you dont want to get ganked dont play on a PvP server!

  • glordglord Member UncommonPosts: 338

Roleplaying on PVE servers doesn't exist. Go look at the roleplay question thread about cimmeria and wiccana (or whatever that PVE server was called).

Why do you need the "RP" tag on the server name? Lots of games dont have official RP servers,  but their unofficial ones are the most populated, or one of the most populated.

I wanted a pve-rp server on this game, but it looks like Funcom is going to say the rp rules are on the pvp server (for whatever lame-brain reason). But I dont have any delusions that they will enforce them.

If you don't like it go to the PvE server.  Why do you think Funcom will add rules to the PvP servers to prevent this when half the servers available already have those rules in place?   If the PKs get organized then it is the responsibility of the Antis to organize as well.

Roll on a PvE server. Don't pay $15 month to be content for sociopaths.

  • BladinBladin Member UncommonPosts: 1,089

I have to agree, despite how the gankee feels.  It's a open pvp server, expect open pvp.  If you don't want open pvp don't roll on one.

IT's like playing wow and complaining that a horde camped you for a hour.

    It's a pvp server.

Wait until more people figure out the gheyness that is "Instance Swapping" to avoid being killed mid-fight.

"I forgot to mention that I'm an RPer, so PVE servers are out of the question."

Yes, because it's so much more immersive to be repeatedly spawn-ganked by xXxKillerxXx.

Forgive me for laughing but LOL.  That shows that it has a potential as a good game right there.  The only thing that would make it better is that you lose all your gear everytime you die, now that would get my money.  Makes me remember when true hardcore games like UO existed, oppose to the kid friendly MMOs we see now.

This is the correct answer if it is annoying you too much.

FFA is FFA. You can tolerate mindless idiocy, or not. Your choice.

I don't know why but that made me laugh. I never thought of it that way, but it's true. You are basically paying 15 bucks a month to get killed by sociopaths haha.

Seems it panned out exactly as foretold on the RP-PvP servers...

And to think that we warned about it and asked over and over again, to have a RP-PvE server....

But because every such thread was met with hostility of dozens and dozens of socalled "It won't happend, we're good PvP'ers and you cant RP without PvP" peoples... Guess they won... They got their "Gank the RP'ers servers".

Except that you are killed in Conan when your computer  loads graphics to go from one zone to another. Not even possible to view/choose what to do.

And the slower your computer loads its graphics the faster you die.

This has nothing to do with so called "open pvp".

Open pvp is open pvp.  A certain immunity timer wouldn't hurt, but it'd be a more ease of life issue rather than a requirement.

Please keep in mind that WIccanna is the "unofficial" RP-PVE werver for NA. I don't remember the EU RPVE server name... Sorry.

Don't remind me of UO please, the greatness that game used to have brings tears to my eyes.

    Ummmm... Really folks.

People would have to be very naive to think it was going to work out any other way.

No, I take that back... So many people have virtually guaranteed that load ganks and such would be a "minor nuisance" and painted a rosy picture of making it as much like UO as possible.

Human nature is just what it is and some peple will take a kill nomatter how lame.

That's the way it is. It ain't the game doing it, it is other "humans".

Go roll on PVE if it bothers you. That's not a snotty remark either. Some people just take glee in annoying others, why feed them with your presence?

If you like to deathmatch in FPS games, you might like the PvP server.  If you like counterstrike, or team fortress, then try PvE.

There is a dirty little secret.  PvE server has PvP  gameplay in it.

that another thing SWG did perfectly for a while. after you landed into a zone, you would be non pvp able for about 10 seconds after the server has loaded you in (and the client as well) so that you could properly prep yourself prior to being ganked. Then if you were in pvp, you would be flagged pvp and could not enter structures or leave your zone for 60 seconds (shuttle hop out), after 60 seconds of no combat you could jump.

You seemingly read my post, unlike 90% of these people posting who have no idea about me saying that there is no RP on PVE servers, and that I'm an RPer.

I'm a RPer as well, but I already knew what FFA means.... And I tried to warn the RP community as well. *shrugs* Too many people "knew better". *chuckles*

There is a good chance the RP-PVPers will get run off the server. They will need a lot of grit to succeed.

I rolled on a PVE server. Had enough of that crap myself!

To be fair to aoc.. swg wasnt always like that.. You were dead before you loaded. You could hear them attacking you, but you were still looking at the loading screen.

Thats why we would take a shuttle to a different port, then travel to the pvp.

Same with eq2, they finally added a 30 second immunity timer so this same thing wouldnt happen.

You would think Funcom would have done the same thing, or at least expected this..guess not..I would imagine, after their forums fill with threads like this, they will copy swg or eq2.

The way you type it, to me at least, means they did it for "a while" then stopped.
