I don't understand this thought process, lord of the rings online looks better than conan and has next to 0 loading screens, the only loading screens are zoning into dungeons, caves and teleporting, other than that you walk from one end of the world to the other.

Eh...They just hid it better. I mean everything was Instanced,,,even the Tavern!

When you enter a zone like Bree in Age of Conan you wont see everyone all the time. Its called mirrored instancing, they did this crap in EQ2 as well.

That is Gay. That is not MMO at all. That's so freak'n Japanesey & Cheap. That's not a "World"!

I will be cool eith on my 360..But that's not the MMO Experience on looking for on my PC.

Pretty much solo then meet up. There are some multiplayer quests and stuff on tortage (1-20) though.

SO if i wanna get 101 of my closest friends on the game .. we all can't be together in out own zone? So lets say a guild has 101 members they can't have all the members at the same time in the same zone for a guild picture.. So that means when i see 100 people on a server.. I DON"T REALLY EXIST :O

    yah so thats just great....

wow this game gets more bogus ... as i get more questions answered.... how long does it take to get from level 1-20?

    Options:

    A) If its a long time... my friends won't be coming to this game because they hate solo play.

    B) if its a short time... my friends and i have A.D.D so we will get bored i9f we can't play in a group from 1 to max level.

    C) If its REALLY LONG time ... yah good luck funcom with the whole single player loadscreen game.

That really sucks if i can't level from 1 to 20 without a group thats how me and my bro figure out what classes we get so we can help each other out leveling to max level.

Maybe the odd guy out can take solace in the fact that the game looks "prettier" and "next gen" because of his sacrifice?

Personally, I think you had the right idea towards to beginning of the thread. Go see for yourself, seriously. Play until after 20 and then see if the game is what you are looking for overall.

Having said that, after you get one character to 20 you can "skip" the newb area (with the heavy instancing) with other characters. At least that is what has been said on the boards (and the old AoC forum).

ROFL I like the quotes around "next gen".. Its funny how people say next gen mmo yet.. this game has implemented loading screens.. not seamlessly...

If graphics mean next gen then hell guild wars had some decent graphics and personally i thought it was a flop.

When I think of nextgen games.. i rule it on immersion level. If i can play a game then look at the clock and 8 hours had passed... and im completely immersed in teh game i think nextgen. I fear these loading screens will destroy the immersion. But I'll still give it a shot on tuesday. If Potbs didn't have so many load screens I would still be playing that game.

It troubles me that people label this game nextgen.. when i fail (keep in mind this is an opinion based on other opinions and facts off the website and that I have read here) to recognize any feats that they have accomplished that other mmos haven't..

Question. When they refer to loading screens is it a black screen with a picture on it... or is it a sort of lose focus then ur in another zone or is it a cool looking picture of big titties with a lil bar showing the progression of the load? I don't know about ya'll but i can deal with a quick loading screen if I can stare at a pair of titties for that few seconds. eh eh?!

Why is everyone in this thread or close refering of multiple versions of the same ZONE as instancing....????????

1 Instance=a zone dedicated for you and/or your fellow friends in a PARTY, to enjoy an adventure others can't interfere with...This is mostly common in Guild Wars

2 Multiple zone's = A zone is cloned into several zones due to high demand, for example when a zone has reached 100 players it creates zone 2 etc...EQ2 uses it and several other games i played...You can freely jump to these other zones meeting your buddies, and if one zone is full you will still be allowed to enter that particular zone if you are grouped up with those in the full zone(Atleast this is how it works in EQ2)...And last but not least, these multiple zones completly vanished after a couple weeks when players spread out in the gameworld, you could see them from time to time again when SOE released an expansion with NEW hot areas.

I know this system isn't the most optimal system there is, I would rather see a seamless world, but until I can see graphics the same as Age of Conan in a seamless world I gladly trade this eyecandy for WoW's hidden zoning system and sort of more/less non existing graphics. This is the trade off Funcom had to make when developing their game, they wanted eyecandy, and had to do this to get it, simple really..

lvls 1 -20 take place in and around the starting city Tortage and yes this area is instanced (you'll be glad of it too otherwise it would be a crush of players trying to get from A to B). The storyline is great and the instancing is quite interesting:

You can switch from playing in the daytime or playing at night-time. Daytime you play with everyone else doing daytime quests in instanced zones whilst at night-time you take part in a solo storyline (which is very good so far). Takes a bit of getting used to, but suposedly the instancing is a 'lot' less once you leave the starting/tutorial area ( I haven't as yet). It's quite an unusual way to do things, but I must admit from a gameplay perspective I like it a lot. Has the depth of an RPG with the social aspects of an MMO.

The first 18 levels for me have been great fun and have definitely filled that MMO hole I've been looking to plug for some time now.

Will tell you more in a few more levels when I leave Tortage...

Meh. I wants some massive multiplayer mayhem. I'll try the game. But when i used to get two 40 man raids in WoW And go wreck the alliance in South Shore then they show up with two 40 an raids and we duke it out for 3 hrs with so outrageous lag. I could careless that it gets alil choppy when we are fighting but the chaos of the fight makes up for it. Hell I was there for the AQ event and there were 500 people ... the servers were crashing it was great lol.. I don't want perfection but I do want the MASSIVE in the mmo to be brought out occasionally. This is why I quit POTBS... the whole Massive wasn't there because of the load screens. I neve got into GUild wars. Eve was nice. Wow was nice. DAOC was nice. Other than that I haven't seen a game that accomplished the Massive in Multiplayer.. Maybe just maybe eqII or COV on a good day. I want chaos and mayhem.. I want 40 p[eople fighting over one mob for a quest. I want to see 200 people running around with there level 1 nude mage with a dagger running around leveling.

ITS WHAT MMOS ARE ALL ABOUT!!!!

BTW Time wise if hardcore... how long does it take to get from 1-20 so I can get out of the single player BS.

Give the game a go. It definitely good enough that you won't feel robbed of your money and on the PVP servers there is lots of mayhem in post lvl 10 levels... (join the RP-PVP server like me if you don't want all out war lol...)

Anyway sorry but logging back in. Laters

I mean DO I have to enter an instance every 50 feet or enter and instance to enter a town... or is it a large area then an instance ajoining the other LARGE area to that LARGE area. Or is it walk 5 paces then enter instance... Guild wars would be a prime example of medium to heavy instancing. And Pirates of the Burning Sea would be ridiculously heavy to heavy instancing. If you played either of them. Then EQ would be low instancing. Then wow would be I can count the instancing on two hands.

I didnt read all 4 pages but if u come from wow, from what i v read i dont think u ll get annoyed by this game's instancing
