But theres supposed to be snow environments?? how can there be if it stops at cimmeria?

The zones are big, and there's a lot to do in them, and there is really no feeling of confinement or smallness whatsoever.

The white dots indicate the playable zones.

    Wow.... that's disappointing.

Atleast they could've let us explore the whole zones that are Stygia, Cimmeria and Aquilonia, instead of cutting them in half.

How can you call it "not massive" if you dont have something to compare it with?

A map without references is just as random has saying "outlands size +-"

Put it this way,its not as big as WOW...VG...EQ1..EQ2 this is fact. Now if you don't like it or you cant handle the truth take it up with FC.

Having actually played....I can tell you that there is a lot of area to play in. Though you cant compare it to games like vanguard that use chunks and are continuous.  Just looking at those little dots as some have suggested is dumb to day the least. Those just represent the general areas the play fields are at.

As to snow...ever hear of a mountain? Elevation? ...."scratches head"

In total it's apparently about 350sqm (according to last E3, last june.) Which is quite a bit bigger when WoW, but not with it's expansion.

Hyboria itself is massive. It takes up land from the celtic north to the mediteranian and down into africa. Eventually we'll get more countries and areas with expansions and content patches I'm sure. I hope we get Zingara first. :)
And personally I'd rather have chunks of each main country to play in then have the entire size shrunk down in scale ala LotRO, where you can cover the land mass in an hour, where as the same journey in the book took months.

Different from LOTRO in that zones are instanced so you can't really compare the two.

Bet it has more detail than all of those games combined. Who cares about miles of copy pasted landscape that just makes you cry for a mount!?

That's a whole different topic? the question was how big is AOC .

  • ajaxeeajaxee Member Posts: 30

Im all about seeing massive zones that offer near endless exploration aswell. I was hoping for more on release but , that being said. As you can see by the map, Funcom has all sorts of room to expand which is a good thing.

God tomorrow cant come fast enough!! I want to play

edit: i just noticed ive only posted here 16 times since 2005,, holy forum lurker batman!

  • DruchiiiDruchiii Member Posts: 108

I am all for exploration as well but AOC is lacking in that department.

  • RaknarRaknar Member Posts: 192

Zones are not huge. They are in fact tiny. Any linear in many cases. The poster who said explorers have nothing to do was not kidding. Sure, they have lots to do, if you count going back to the same camp over and over a lot to do. It is the most bland MMO I have ever played that was not Korean.

Plus, every quest has a nice little arrow on the mini-map, so they is no possible way to have to search for anything. Death penalty is a joke. You will see zerg tactics, suicide travel, etc, because there is absolutely no reason to fear death. Leveling in the mid levels still takes about 30 minutes per level. You will be seeing level 80s before week one is over, I predict. This is the most carebear MMO I have ever seen from a major producer.

Boobs and blood will only keep the kids amused for so long.

Ive read mixed reports on this "exploration" aspect of the game, ive seen posts saying that if you enjoy exploring for the sake of exploring, then you will love this game. But on the flipside ive read that indeed the game world isnt big enough yet to merit the validity of that comment.

Again as with so many points being brought up the last week, much of this is speculation without having a wide array reviews to read, or having the chance to actually play the game ourselves for a few weeks.
