Rare Reasources - "In fact, unless players harvest them, they won't be available on the server at all"

They are needed for mid game to end game gear. You can even make the gear better by using more rare resources. Rare Resources are player supplied only. Rare resource are gained through territory contorl.
Territory contorl with the avg player have work/school, they are on nights and weekends. So the players who are on during the day can easily take terriory if they had it. So you got all terriories contorled but a small number of the pop made up of guilds who have pop during the day.
"Guilds will have to conquer a territory, each providing a limited number of different resources, and build mining facilities there, then protect them from constant attacks from rivaling guilds."
Ok, so you got to BUILD mining facilities. That means a small guild taking a territory on the weekend will have to over come the costs of the builds to gain any thing. Death has money penalities and they will have trouble hold it come monday.
For 1 type of rare resource, even if each territory that produces it is contorled by a seprate guild, it leaves a small number of seller for the reasource. Its not hard to see how this will cause prices to by high. I am conserned that because of times i log in i will either find the reasources i need not in stock or costing as much as a weeks worth of game money for an item i need.
I would imagine if you wanted end game item or an upgraded mid game item it would use more then 1 type of rare reasource, so even if one of the reasources are in stock or cheap its not hard to see how others will be.
The thing is i can see the game going live and the heaviest pop servers being out of reasources to the point players will be leaving the game because reasources.
With money being to only factor i aworried i would have this happen
I need X amount of reasources to get an new item
beacause of the times i login and the demand on a reasource, I log in to find none of the reasources on the market or when i do find the reasources i am spending a weeks worth of game income for it
So reaplacing my gear or getting a full outfitting of better stuff would add up to months of income
Playing a game where death cost money to keep gear and gear costing months of work.
I am conserned that without incentive other then money the game will become unplayable for a short time after launch (when the majority of casuals need rare reasources) and i am sure it would be fixed and patched after the problem. But fixing it after the fact would not bring back all the players nor would fixing it change reviews caused from the problem.
For the developer Masthead Studios, this is the first game they will be making and i am conserned that this will become an issue.

If you have to work for only a week to get yourself a high quality item made of the rarest resources available to a server, consider yourself lucky.

Also item decade and upkeep apon death is in the game
So it looks like at around mid game and on your going to have gear problems which end up a problem playing through the game
Basically they need rare resource gained through other means but currently dont. Quest rewards and boss drops would be good.

Actually, if you were to go ahead and read your own post again, It states in there simply that the rarest resources will help upgrade currently made items. Therefore the rarest resources, the ones that are going to have to be controlled, make higher quality gear that may be a step up from what is currently available. I dont know if you have been following Earthrise but it sounds like you have not. The game is not Gear Centric. Gear will play a minor roll, its what you do with you gear in accordance to how you make your character, that will matter.
This being said, a week is an extremely short amount of time to upgrade an item. Especially since you have absolutly no idea how, when, and where you will get these resources, or how much of them it will take.
Basically you are jumping the gun on in issue that wont even be explored for another year. Relax, the simple fact that the developers have been so attentive to the people on their forums shows that they are willing to listen. If there is a problem down the road Im sure it will be fixed.

The game is incredablly gear centric you cant use skills or ablities at all if your gear does not allow it.
really i dont know of many games where your skills and abilities are are so restricted by gear other then weapons
I would say thats far more gear centric then avg
it would be like being every class available in a game and just have to change your gear to switch classes. which also would mean multiple sets of gear.
You can have the worse gear in the game and still kill some one that has uber gear. It has been stated that it will be a skill based game and that someone with less experience will be able to kill someone with more experience. All that matters is how you use your skill build and also a lil of luck.
Now I understand that resources might run out and stuff. But that is all part of the game and also makes people come up with newer ways of getting better gear. In this case will most likely be PvP combat. In the end it will make the game longer. Which I think more mmo's should have. I hate playing a game for a month and be at end-game it really annoys me. I am sure a lot of other people get annoyed at this fact.
Not exactly what was said players could kill another end game player, If they used their skills right and other player did not.
So thats 2+ players who know how to play their characters killing a end game player who does not know what he is doing.

You you will need gear that goes with your skills or you will not be using the skills. So if you think skills are that important then that would make your gear that imporant. If you cant use the skill it would do you not good.
Say you have 2 skills both are great and make a big difference for your build but the lower gear lets you use 1 at a time so your swamping gear. That 2 sets or parts of gear you need. Not to mention if the highest stuff would let you use both. Then you got decay and full looting to worry about. I would not be surprised to find player using 2-3 different weapons which would likely mean a few different pieces of gear.
So either your using just one thing and even then you likely have to get the best availible, or your branching out. Either way you need a ton of reasources, the better crafted takes more resources for the specialist and the other guys just got more stuff.
Basically if you only got the basic gear you could end up at a 2-1 or 3-1 power scale to others.
With gear limiting which skills you can use you still got gear having a ton of importance which makes the rare resource important.
Basically they connected it all together and then currently have rare resource set just in territory contorl.
