Some peoples trash is others treasure

As you can see by my name tag I am a grandma and yes I love to play MMORPG games. I am sorta new at this so please bear with me if I get something wrong.

I havent quite learned the different terms about MMORPG's yet and their differences but have been willing to atleast give most a try..like  I said some mens trash is others treasure..works in judging games too I have found.  I am going to give AoC a try ..looks rather interesting and yes I like to get "in your face" fighting  and will do PvP now and then. I prefer story lined questing/ missions rather than the go kill 10 boar type of thing and hope AoC falls more in that style. Something about making you think and strategize thats makes a game fun to play..well atleast in this grandma's opinion anyway. Oh and exactly what is considered RPing? Yes I know it means role playing but what is considered role playing in the MMO's..thanks for any replies...Grandma out...

Rping is exactly what its name says.  Acting the Role of your in-game character with other RPer's.  Players stay in character without mentioning any type of worldly topics.  A lot of RPers ive encountered like to hang out in inn's and bars to sit and chat.  RPing is a very social, and relaxing experience.

There was only ONE game that i saw fit to RP in, and thats LOTRO.  What a great game for that type of player.

    You're not alone Gramma

    From the Entertainment Software Associaton

In 2007, 26 percent of Americans over the age of 50 played video games, an increase from nine percent in 1999.

Alot of cool facts on their page, some that would shut up(if they could read) those that say there are no female gamers hehe

You go girl!  You're never too old to enjoy a good game.  Just out of curiousity, what is your attraction to MMOs?  Let me guess...I bet it's the immersion factor.  The feeling of escaping this work a day world in which we live and entering into a world of fantasy.  Am I anywhere in the ball park?

Incidently, there was another lady with, um...shall we say, years of experience under her belt who put a few posts up here recently.  Most of them seemed to have something to do with wanting to see more scantily clad male toons in MMOs the way devs love to put in female avatars which show plenty of skin.  Don't know if she's still roving these forums though, but you are not alone.

    Welcome

I like to think of roleplaying as playing GI Joe or Barbie with your ingame avatars.

& some people think that power gaming is turning relaxation into work, that you pay for, so take opinions for what they are worth.......
