Awakening ll Bugged?....Help needed

Lo all,
Having a bit of a time with the Awakening quest. That git Renton won't talk to me so I can't finish it.
I petitioned it but it has taken 30 mins to move up 1 position in the queue and there are still 29 in front of me (sigh)
There is nothing I can do cos all my quests are done except this one, so I'm just sat around doing nothing for what seems like it's gonna be hours to talk to a GM.
Can anyone confirm this is fooked or am I just doing the quest wrong?
Any help would be appreciated..

Hey, dunno if this would help, but check the VN boards they discuss some issues about quests.
"The Renton quests are not working properly, they put in some fixes in a CB patch for that but I think they had to revert that patch from live due to BSODs or something. In the meantime the dude in the tavern can let you skip the destiny quest so you can keep progressing."

Checked out the VN boards and although there were threads about it, none of the ones I saw had responses..
Not sure of the repercussions of bypassing this quest, but it's better than sitting waiting for a GM for hours..

This was still bugged this am. Drove me nuts.

same thing happened to myself and my wife, we cant finish the quest. we just gave up and moved on.
it can be skipped by talking to the mage trainer dude in the bar...
What happens when you Skip past this? Because although they claim the following -
Quests

That is a bold-faced lie from Funcom devs. It is not fixed. And I think they know they are lying with the "should more consistantly" caveat tossed in their inveracity.
Isn't this so good loot for our level? This is the last stage of our beginning life and I would hate to miss this if it can be avioded.

I don't know if this was a bug or not but I had to kill his guards twice, killed them the first time and he disappeared and then reappeared in different place with same guards again.
