Not only have there been considerable DX10 games, like Crysis, but even a DX10 mmo already (LotR) and even with endless delays they can't even deliver it.
Just shocked, makes me wonder more and more what else is missing or incomplete.

List this considerable amount of DX10 games, please.

I didn't say considerable amounts, I said considerable DX10 games, meaning pretty big titles that support DX10.

And again, for game that had always been hyped as a DX10 game built from the ground-up, it's really shocking that it won't launch that way after countless delays.

Perhaps Funcom identified many of the technical issues experiencedin Beta was partly/wholly down to the DX10 code provisions and decided to remove this aspect for the all important launch.

If they did this - I respect them for it.

WoW fanboy? You can't be referring to me. I dropped WoW a while ago and I tried to use BC as a way to get back into it, but quit again after only a week (back in January of 2007). I did this after realizing that I hit a wall in progress since I didn't have thousands of hours to raid for gear.

Perhaps you should consider actually articulating an argument before calling anyone a fanboy who may pick apart something in a game that you yourself have become a fanboy to (I use the line "Trying to find flaws in AoC, even in places where there are none to find" to support this.)

    To gannonreid:

No, I'm not refering to you. Should have been clearer, my apologies. It was an answer to the poster directly above me.

To care about  DX10, I'd have to care about Vista.

Honestly, it's why I switched to vista (when I got my new Graphics card that was bundled with Crysis )

dont worry, Zorndorf has hundreds of posts of how bad AoC actually is

some ppl fill their free time up like that

    MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

Um.... yes AoC (release version) DOES support DX10, I know because I play it, and I can switched between the two, and the there is a night and day diffrance in graphics and performance when I do (I could provide screen shots when i'm not at work, but probably won' bother since I'll be playing in DX10).

The diffrence in AoC in DX9 and DX10 is greater than in any game I've seen to date, and it's the first game I've seen a frame rate improvement with DX10.

Beleive me or not, don't care... I've been there and seen it.

    Active: WoW

    Semi-retired: STO

Fully retired: UO, EQ, AC, SWG, FFXI, DDO:EU, PoTBS, AoC, EvE

Tried: EQ2, Tabula Rasa, Auto-Assault, Isteria, LotRO, Wizard 101

    Looking forward to: Star Citizen

Personally I couldnt give a rats bottom if theres a delay in the directx10 release. I'm happy for it to be pushed back because it gives Funcom time to deal with the engine issues, which although they aren't necessarily game breaking, fixing them will help slicken up the engine ready for porting to Dx10 and the Xbox.

Better to slicken the engine so that it purrs smoothly before putting more load on peoples systems.

    To NotNiceDino :

The game currently does not support shader 4.0. It only supports shader 3.0 and below. Funcom already announced that directX 10 is delayed. What you think is better, is just shader 3.0 with max textures.

DX10 is not in game for another few months. There is a button to switch between DX9 and 10 but it doesn't really do anything.

There is no DX10 at the moment.

I personally don't care as DX9 looks freaking awesome!

DX10 being delayed is not game breaking

and Funcom publicily announced that it would not be in the game at launch

    www.funcom.com/wsp/funcom/frontend.cgi

Funcom has decided to ship only the DirectX 9 version at launch, giving the team more time to focus on building a DirectX 10 version worthy of Microsoft’s great vision for the future of PC gaming. This postponement will let Funcom include even more features in the DirectX 10 version of Age of Conan than originally planned.

The DirectX 10 version will be premiered at the German Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, August 20 – 24, 2008. A special preview showing off the advanced graphics made possible by DirectX 10 technology will be unveiled this summer at nVidia’s NVISION event in San Jose, California, August 25 – 27, 2008.

    That's not what they did.

What they did was hyping up DX10 as an amazing surprise launch feature up until a few days before launch and then pull a bait and switch.

You have to be kidding me if you believe that they didn't realize DX10 won't be ready only a few days before launch.

Look at that. Funcom fools another.

The guy who made the decision to leave the DX10 option selectable really deserves a raise or promotion. I bet he's laughing his ass off reading these posts where people swear their nuts that DX10 is working.

DX10 is great. Vista, however, isn't. Kudos to Funcom for leaving it out (For the time being).

just like in that other thread after that guy called me a liar. people don't even do research on their own games. I agree, the guy that did that does deserve a raise, probably brought in a lot more subscriptions.
