I am really dissappointed and i must say: WOW community ING ---> AOC community hands down. It is not

I've played on a couple of servers , from pve to pvp to Rp-pvp to see how the community is. Now everyone knows how WOW community is, yeah, it is really bad yes, but it is mainly on the forums , where the full immaturity lies. In game world of warcraft community isn't good either, there are allot of immature pricks over the general chat but i must say, it isn't as bad as age of conan ING community. The problem with age of conan is that you ask a question and u get flamed, u typ something in the general  chat and in one second it is gone. The server i played on world of warcraft was chromaggus, i played WOW for 6 months and after TBC 1 month.

In world of warcraft, you atleast could say something in the general chat, the general chat wasn't great and lies more on the immature side but atleast, the people i met where decent, sure you have your fools but you also have the mature people.

In my 12 year online gaming , i must say AOC really needs work on the social part, yes WOW has a horrible community but AOC is even worser , the general chat is full of WOW chat vs AOC chat and how my l337 pwns and all these stupid trash talk. I also get pmed by various fools who spamm me with lol lol or me pwnz you and all those stupid trash behaviour talk.

Every mmo has its immature players but AOC is over the top.  In AOC , mature behaviour is RARE , the majority of the servers i played on are asshats.  LOTRO has a good community, EVE has, even EQ2 has better, WOW on my server had better ,daoc, UO name it  because i feel AOC community really lacks something.

It's a shame and it needs to be worked on! FC should do something about it if these people don't leave after a month.

I think a lot of those same kid's from WOW have grown bored and moved to AOC

Its a big reason why i hate WOW by opening MMO's up to the masses it introduced these kids into our mist I cant think of a community before WOW that was so imature, you had the occasional bad apple but for the most part communities where mature and friendly.

Yeah but AOC is even worser and there lies the problem. People can say this and that but enough mmo's did not have these horrible communities.

 

A bad community mostly kills the game, there is no fun in a game where it is only played by people who behave like little babies or counter strike kiddos .

The reason why LOTRO--> WOW hands down is beause it has a good community.

I would not care if AOC introduces awesome features in patches, if the community sucks, the game sucks imo!   

 The most important thing of a mmorpg = a community, if that sucks, the game sucks. It's that simple.

Well they never policed the forums, or the global chat. It is truly a FFA environment. The only game I know you can get in global or on the forums and throw out racial slurs and supremacist views and not suffer any repercussions. We’ll see how those change once the media gets their hands on it.

Before WOW, the communities where allot better , so yes, this may sound harsh but yes , post WOW era , the communities have become worse.

If AOC community becomes even worser, the mature players will leave probably and the only thing AOC will have is l337 talking 12 year olds or l337 talking adults who are mentally 12 which will mean that AOC will get the tag of crappy game because it has a crappy community.

Funny. I find the AOC community a lot more friendly then the WoW community.

I have played on YMIR since saturday, and everyone i have talked to has been really nice.  But on the otherhand, i have met a lot of egoistic people, that dont want to party or anything. And thats a shame i think. It would be a lot more fun if people would help eachother with the different quests, so you dont have to stand like 10 people on one spot, and wait for the same 4 mobs spawn so you can kill them. But just party up, so you all would get the kills at the same time, and save time.

You are right about the generel chat (OOC), its goes really fast there sometimes, but usually you get the answer you are looking for.

I am also sorry to sound harsh, but that is complete and utter crap! There have been immature comunities around since the dawn of gaming, ever have that one mate that would scream at the top of his voice about how much better he was than you on the Atari 2600 or Spectrum game while the majority of your friends were fairly quiet?

Probably the largest at one point was the Counterstrike community (and still is to an extent). Immature players have been around long before WoW came on the scene and will be around long after it is gone, it is just unfortunate that the WoW community is so large as statistically more people will mean more idiots, it is just pure mathamatics, but that has nothing to do with other games!

A much awaited game is just released..Its natural people are going to compare , boast , curse etc

Why dont you just turn of the chat .Give it a month or 2 lets the dust settle

Personally I have seen a good community for LOTRO

Everyone has different experiences, you have played for 2 days, and obviously had a few bad experiences.  You have no way to reliably quantify which community is more immature, and why should you want to anyway.

There are immature comminities both in and out of game, WoW didn't start making people immature, it just attracted alot of immature people.  AoC and most MMO's will do the same.

At the end of the stay people should stop complaining about it, and either join a guild of likeminded people or create one.

Going on about who has the most immature community isn't exactly the pinnacle of maturity itself.

Yeah, not sure what you are talking about. My server (Zug) has been wonderful. Everyone's been helpful, I haven't seen any immaturity in the general chats, and everyone is extremely helpful. People drop what they're doing to help you out on a quest, guildy or not.

But if you are hoping for answers in general chat instantly, I can see why you are having trouble. Not many people know them.

The games been out for three days.

I used to say worser when I was about 7 or 8 and didn't know better.

Look, if you got big trouble in old Hyboria. do what maybe most do, get some real friends, people you know in real life to play along side you, get a ventrilo server or play side by side so you can communicate. When you enter the game turn OFF your /ooc and /world messages and have a good time. Why you would allow a bucnh of people you don't even know ruin what should be a great game for you. I don't mess with the community AT ALL, I got my close buddies with me on Ventrilo and we have a blast!

There will always be 'bad' communities in any MMO.

If YOU let that decide your experience, YOU are at fault.

Play the Game more and stop paying so much attention to General chat.

I dont know how other serverse are, especially the pvp, but the server I am on is extremely friendly.  We had someone get the very first guild keep and everyone was congradulating them.  I have had no problem meeting people doing a quest and grouping up.   To me this has been a very friendly community, although this could be because its new so everyone is looking for help.

OP is a WoW fanboi.  Period.  Never played WoW so won't talk about the community there. On Zug in Conan and haven't seen a single bad comment in general chat yet.  I am sure I will just nothing so far.  Go play WoW bro.  You do understand how silly it looks to come here and "defend" you fav MMO?  Well considering that you still say "worser" I guess you don't.

I play on an US server and the community is friendly ... I have no clue if thats a PvP-server problem or if the OP just had a bad day or something ... (kinda puzzeled by this post, really)

I have to agree.  I tried a pvp-rp server to see how it went and it seems an inordinate amount of children with low levels of maturity dominate the server.   I finally just stopped playing on the server it got so bad.

So much for the nc-17 rating, Seems this is the home of the early and pre teen crowd now.

Why they bother with an rp tag on the server is beyond me, if they are going to allow such horrid trash talking.  I suppose Funcom is a bit overwhelmed at the moment, but so far my experience has been less then pleasing with hostile environment.

I play on the EU pure PvP Server Fury. Although I have seen some immaturity in OOC it is generally lighthearted and quite funny. Occassionally there will be an argument between people ganking, but this is pretty rare as at the moment people are just concentrating on levelling. Basically it depends what area you are in, in some places the OOC seems to be much more lively and interesting, with helpful answers and intelligent discussions. In other places the OOC seems pretty much empty.

Even on this PvP server with its "generally more immature" players I really haven't suffered too much.

There have always been bad eggs in online communities. I used to run two bulletin board services long before the internet and we had bad eggs. You cannot blame one game for the problem. It has always existed and just seems amplified the more people there are.

A majority of that crap in OOC channel is just that....crap. Unfortunately the downside of having a MMO bring 10 million people is that you get allot more idiots expressing everything that pops into their little head. This is the reality of the post-WoW MMOs and will be for quite some time, or atleast until those gamers age a bit.

Internet is full idiots players. Took me 6 year to figure it out. Sure some games are good but community in multiplayer games are horrible. usually 11-19 year old kids that spam in chats and think they best players in world.

I have started enjoy more singleplayer games, no need heard anyone whining and playing feels more realistic. after all whole mmorpg playing is pointless becouse u are just one of randoms that walk in pixel world and are not any special.

Well the OP is actually talking crap about wow as well. He only played wow for 7 months!

I been playing wow on and off since launch here in the UK and only once did i have to put a guild on ignore.

That was because i found out on an instance run that they were exploiting MC

So i told everyone in OOC, then got banned for 3 days as the GM's investigated it, then at that time i XC'd my account for 6months in protest and got offers left right and center from wow to go back. Now these days Gms never do that. Dont need to Blizzard is actually in co-houts with the farming community.

after all 10million farmers gives them a lot of money.
