from the sudden hush of d00mcryers, is it relatively safe to say most people are happily playing in game?

Edited the title and cast my vote for lurking.

I'm not lurking, but I am still on the fence as to whether I will keep playing after the free 30 days. I'll probably just do this the same as any other MMO, play it for 2-3 months and then be bored with it. We'll see how the game is around 60 with a decent guild that's city-building and at war with other guilds...

I got my moneys worth when compared to buying a regular PC game

-- but I currently have no interest in subscribing

maybe I'll change my mind, I'm only 35 at the moment

The only thing I'm not happy about is the fact that i can't connect to the patching server for more than 25 seconds.

That's why I figured to throw that option in -- 1 month of free time may be breakeven for a 40 dollar purchase to some.  35 already?  damn, you're flying!

Only thing I'm pissed about is the shitness of my graphics card, rendering the game shit FPS or appalling graphics. :( wish I could play the game smoothly and enjoy it's beautiful graphics.

Depends if i actually get to PLAY the game, instead of trying to fix problems before my 30 days are up

Heh wish I could tell you. Bought it on launch day, threw it in the computer and nothing. Tried other disks to see if my drive wasn't working and they all worked fine. Figured I got a bad disk so went to exchange at Gamestop and tried again last night. Nothing. So at this point I have no clue how AoC plays because I can't even install the darn thing. I must have walked under a ladder or had some sort of black cat cross my path or something recently.

I had the same problem with another game, where it would play all but this one it turned out to be my dvd rom after all, it messed up the new game disc as soon as i put it in. Get a new dvd rom drive, for the sake of £20-£30. It might solve your problem or not, but it did me.

No it’s just the best MMORPG I have ever played.  And it makes WoW look the kiddy toy that is it.

Very, extremely, exceptionally, unequivocally happy. Also glad I bought the CE (best CE I've seen in a long time). Will I be subbing? Whadda you think?

This game is crazy, silly mad fun.

I canceled this AM much to my chagrin.

Generally, I am not happy with the game. I'm not upset about the bugs. I am sure a number could have been handled differently, like the in-game mail system being down for almost a week now but I'm not harping on it.

I'm just not happy with the lack of content. I am neither fanboi nor hater. I just don't like the game. It's linear and lackluster. Run out, kill, run back. The differences between level 20 (vendor) armor and level 30 is .1 (insert damage type here) and 1-1.5 defense. Soloing 3-4 mobs +2 levels above you and not needing to use a HP pot. has anybody even bought anything in game? I did. A shield, sword and breastplate and level 10. Nothing else. Where's the economy going with that kind of system? Gold to buy mounts for those who don't have them. Custom armor and sword? The materials gathering is..not great. It's only redeeming quality is that it will keep the casuals from buying. But then too, where's the need to buy when drops or quest items will get you where you want to go.

And the death penalty? Why did they bother. Unless you have 5-6 DPs stacked no one is ever going to notice.

I have 35 days left (EA 10 days + the 30 for the game purchase).  I am hoping there will be changes during that time but I think it would require a complete revamp of the game and will not happen. *shrug*

Myself and three guildees from WoW have all moved over and intend on subscribing. I am extremely happy with this game.  I absolutely love the combat (lets face it, fighting is what most of us spend our times doing), love what they've borrowed from other games and love what they've left out.

One above poster said that they were dissapointed in the lack of armor bonuses. I applaud AOC for doing what they've done. No more will i step on a battlefield look accross and see a band of guys with l33t gear that can two shot me because they raided "X".  WoW left a bad taste in my mouth for loot-centric pvp. The huge stat armor bonuses and lack of auto attack are all great things left out of AOC.

One of the things borrowed i like is the feat system which in all honesty is a blatant rip off of WoW's talent trees...so what? Talent trees were the one real thing i liked about WoW and AOC did a good thing by including them.

Healers...Right now i am a level 22 bear shaman, i have played a healer in every mmo i've played and i've played most of em'. So far i am IN LOVE with the fact that my heals are reactive off of the combat moves i use. Sure i have one or two heals that i can sit and spam but why? almost everything that heals does so in the form of a minimal HoT. My combos are the only way for me to lower my aggro with a mob. Thats right...i as a healer am encouraged to step in the fray and swing. Love it.

    Subscribing?   Check

There were talent trees similar to WoW before it even went into development =P

If you are going to para-quote, do it accurately. I said one of the things that was lacking was the lack of difference in the armor. Not that I was disappointed in there being no bonuses. I was questioning the economic system where vendors sell the almost same stuff at level 10, as 20, as 30. Why bother with multiple vendors if thats the case.

All the armor looks the same and is essentially  the same, not counting a few quest items. You will still get your one shots due to raid drops. FC said that from the beginning.

Hmm have you tried updating the firmware for the drive? My lite-on needed an update before I could install a few games.

LOL no need to get excited...i took this statement to mean why would you buy armor at a higher level when the bonuses aren't much different from a set 10 levels lower.  Must have missed the part about it all looking the same...oh yeah, it wasn't in there.

The game has been playable for 5 days now and already you are com;laining about econmony and armor and lvl 30. Give the game some damn time and stop with the needy instant gratification.

  • grimmbotgrimmbot Member Posts: 302

The game has been out (officially) since Tuesday. To decide NOW if I'm happy with my purchase is like going on vacation to Bermuda, and asking me while on the departing flight if my vacation has been worth it.

I'm not voting on this poll -- I'll tell you how the vacation went once it's over, if you catch my drift.

To clear up my context, I *am* very satisfied with the game right now. I haven't had many complaints. I just can't make an accurate depiction after 2 days regarding what I'll do at the end of a month.

I'm only 18 right now. The 1-20 game, the 20-40 game, the 40-80 game, and the endgame can all be drastically different, so I wouldn't want to leave unless I found most or all to be unsatisfying (and even then, a good endgame can patch the feelings bruised from a sorry journey).

If there was an option for "Probably, but I'm waiting till the end of the month", I'd vote for it. ;)

Im very happy with this purchase, its easily the best investment into an MMO I have made.

  • senadinsenadin Member UncommonPosts: 247

My main concerns right now are; How's the lag? How playable is the game? Also during beta they said the beta build was not the launch built. Is this the case or were we just filled the old line?

I am tempted to get it but uncertain at this time.

Nope,   just uninstalled it actually.  Couldnt find a class I enjoyed, and the class I was really looking forward to playing, the Necromancer, was disappointing.   Didnt really like the combat system that much for the melee classes (probably better suited to an XboX 360 gamepad).   Also I found the majority of the community to be extremely lowbrow and immature.   However. .

It ran very well on my computer, and the graphics, and sounds are nice and the voice acting is well done and enjoyable,  I do enjoy the lore of the game.  To me though its still got someways to go.   If given the choice I would read a conan book over playing the game (and I will be reading a lot more books before trying AoC, if ever, again.)

  • LeemegLeemeg Member UncommonPosts: 230

    So far so good :)

Not many games, mmo's or single player games, has been able to keep my interest from the start as AoC has. Last that happened was KotOR2.

The graphics, sounds, feel...it's quite nice, and they have managed to capture the Conan world as I remember it (or how I believe to remember it :)). And the combat system is a bit fresh in the mmo world.

I'm quite impressed with the number of people still lurking, not quite equal to the number of people enjoying the game but close.  If this is any sort of representation of the market, that could be huge for Funcom if even half of those people decide to pull the trigger.

  • NBlitzNBlitz Member Posts: 1,904

    People are sheep.

Anyways. I'm disappointed...disappointed I did not buy the CE :D The game is great and I'm over the moon with it. Woo!
