What type of PvPer are you?

I allways wondered how people PvPed.

I'm someone who PvP's my myself. I never fight weak or people around my level, I allways look for the best to fight. I sometimes handicap myself and no wear armor or use low level weapons/armor. I feel the only way to get better at a game is to fight the best.

Fighting people below your level makes one complacent IMO.  You don't really learn anything out of it mainly because the person you're fighting either lacks the experience or in most games cases the abilities to properly fight someone higher then them.  Having an easy win I think tends to train you in believing that 1 or 2 different strategies will just about get you anywhere where in fact it's not the case when you find someone your own level or higher.

If we were talking a skill based game rather then level based then this wouldn't be the case because in most part I won't know what the skills the opponent has and for all I know he might have crappy armor skill but his weapon might be maxed out and he could hit like a truck and there by killing most people in a couple hits with out giving them much time to fight back and do damage.

Then again I'm rarely the instigator unless I'm fighting for something like a keep or tower as was the case in DAoC.  I find that there are plenty of people eager to jump me while I'm fighting so I feel no need to go looking for PVP as it usually finds me.  I'm lazy .  On the other hand if a lower level person comes at me again and again I will defend myself.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

I fight however i feel like at the moment. Although, normally i fight same level or higher.

But on some occasions, that i'm bored out of my mind, i take a walk on newbies lands, and poke (with a sword/gun/whatever) anyone that attacks me. Just for hte hell of it.

Also, there was a time where i would run around higher level maps, trying to find some random higher level target, to humiliate after i killed it

Biggest diference was owning a lvl 60, with a lvl 47, on WoW.

    Ahh... fun times.

In the end, if i feel lower level/geared/whatever players are not any threat to me, i dont bother.

But if any of them "acts funny"... well...

I prefer even fights, where the only differences remaining are the players' own personal skills. I'll take on a higher-level opponent if I think I have a chance at winning, or at least a chance to learn something. Generally I look down on ganking lower-levels, because I don't see how it could provide any stimulus of any reasonable kind, and because it's just moronic. I'd happily kill a lower-level who's jumping around like a kangaroo on crack, though, or who otherwise annoys me; call me a hypocrite if you like, but I did say "generally." ;)

First off I'm more of an RPer than a PvPer, but both aren't mutually exclusive; they rather reflect on one another. I mostly tend to stick with rogueish roles in my RP so that would probably make me an opportunist, a coward when times calls for it and I'll use every dirty trick in the book. :p (and just to make sure, i'm not talking on cheating or breaking the CoC or EULA of any game)

More seriously, I'm generally speaking a calculated PvPer, meaning I won't attack without a reason and having carefully pondered on the risk. I do however not have qualms on attacking lower level/skilled players or players at a disadvantage; game is game, but to me it just depends heavily on the reason that made you become game in my eyes. (which will almost always be RP influenced)

That said, I prefer mass PvP battles over one on one or skirmishes; it's a lot more comforting to be able to hide in the mass and there's always someone else that will attract far more attention than you, thus saving your own hide just a while longer. There I always go looking for soft targets or anything that looks remotely fragile. With mass PvP usually depending heavily on numbers, it's imperative you make the opponent's dwindle as fast as possible. Every player down, every mage, healer, newer player that bites the virtual dust is another reason for your opponent's forces to switch attention, heal, loose valuable time and attacking power.

I hardly care about being the best in PvP, because quite frankly I know I generally suck at it. (the exception would be spending hours experimenting and training on becomming the 'best' Master Pistoleer on the Arispotle server in Ryzom; although the few that were nuts enough to undertake that path of fighting left before I reached my Mastery, making it a lot easier, lol)
Winning however is important to me, loosing is humbling; whatever the outcome, as long as everyone gets their fun out of it and it leaves interesting RP hooks and interpretations.

I notice many people have  a love/hate thing going with PvP. They love the concept but if they keep dying to other players they think something is wrong with the game and it needs to be fixed, instead of learning how to play. People praise and hype game XXXXX before it comes out. Then after its released they can't figure out how to play and blame the game for their lack of skills.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

I love mass PvP a LOT! When it's one race against another. Or bad guys vs. good guys:)

I never PvP one on one. I don't find it exciting or fun.

Well, I play EVE. EVE pvp is unforgiving with loss/gain.

My method basically is my Corp rule of NBSI (Not Blue (friendly)Shoot it) in our homespace.

No non-friendly is welcome in our sovergn space and will be shot on sight.

My other PVP game was back in pre NGE SWG. There I only attacked enemy faction.

I am not a pirate or a ganker/griefer. I play more of a soldier/leader role for my "team". You could say I maintain honor in combat HOWEVER, I will capitalize on a situation that will destroy the enemy. Meaning if I can outnumber a enemy invader to kill them with no losses, that is the route I will take. Efficiency in destroying your enemy without loosing allies.

Ah... the sweet smell of teen angst, that flows from WoW forums. (or, any other game, really...)

I tend to just run around and kill anyone that I can. If the fight looks fair or to my advantage I will engage in it, if it's worth it for the team I will also do so; mindless fights that will result in your death I do however flee from.

I like team pvp and you are only good like your team supports you or you supports your team.

"get off mah land" :shot gun in the air, followed by leveling towards the person:

no PvP beats territory control and land ownership.  If I wanted fun PvP instead of player driven PvP I'd play a FPS/RTS/Whatever and get a couple extra games a year instead of a subscription.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I loved PvP in Eve, I hated it in WoW so I guess I'm a no level having, death penalty loving, pre battle strategist as opposed to a WoW/FPS/XboxLive style pvper.

if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it.
Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro
    if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end

Depends on the game. In EQ2 i would kill EVERYONE i could. No matter the level. in Wow it wasn't such a big deal so i didnt really care that much. I would try to duel people that had gear equal or advanced then mine and see how i fared.

Player made stuff from a top class trades man will stop a high lvl man from killing you if the game has a good  skilled combat system.

Player made stuff and the FREEDOM TO Wear what you want if you got the  money  is the way to go.

No lvls or skill limits on crafted items.

Everyone  that wants nice items in the game must do something for there money.

    From fishing to  /  mineing / collectors/  armor craft/  weapon craft/  building craft/   jewery craft/  cloth craft//  leather craft/    cooking craft/   pet trainer craft/    potion craft/

Other skilled trades to chose from///

    Being a BUM /         Be a Theif/     /     A Gaurd /

Gaurds  are hiried  by us,, to gaurd something  that  you dont want some one to take. You will pay that gaurd for his dutys.

Theif uses his stealth where NO ONE can see him. Only way to see a theif is to buy from one of the skilled potion makers. No class should see a theif because of spells , because this is a {theifs} job to make his money.

So if you want to protect your self from theifs then find some one that makes Good potions.

Bums  can do odd jobs for you in a short amount of time to earn little cash from you '''   you being the player.

Have all skill bace game where there is skill in everything you do.

From   Running   /   jumping ///    swiming// /   lefting rocks/     climbing  //   and so on you get the idea!

Now these skills  will never top out  ,  they will just slow down real slow after a long time raiseing that skill of course.     And skills that you  DONT  do for a certain  amount of  time then you lose skill points  in that skill.  Because you forget how to do it  as good as you could.

Got to be a game with NO LIMIT'S.

All pvp.  Full loot/    and a DEaTh Penalty.

You say you Dont Like'''' full loot''''' right.   Your right,,,, in todays game   ,full loot will not be good Because everything that is good comes from mob drops.    So  the only way to get another one is to pay someone that  is high lvl  that can kill it for you.

Well in this game the only mob drops you are going to get is bones and hides .

See  if the players make everything in the game this mean you  will have a job to buy your stuff again.

May not be what you had because you may not have the money to get that right then, But you will get some new.And some one maybe selling the same stuff you had dirt cheap to,,  never know.

Full loot will be no different  then a goood Theif!

Death  dont mean the enemy will get your stuff no way.     WHY?  Because you will most likely be by your PLAYER  MADE TOWN,   place where you claimed the land or took it from enemys.

Remember Everything in the game is made by us and the only thing in the game when we start out  is LAND'''  witl LOTs of   Resoruces.

Everyone will have to eat in the game or die,  And if you die from not eating then your charactor is  GONE!

A good skilled '  ' COOK'    should have food that doubles '' stats'' and ''skills''' for what ever each food is for.

Not just some little stat raise,   Corse if the cook is low skilled then ya.

Skilled combat system,  with a good Engine, fast movement is a good engine.

    Good graphis and sound.

Well that is not all BUT iam tied of typeing.

Hope you see where the fun is in a game like this .Because its just like todays games with alot more content!

And Darkfall is something like what i am talking about but it    STILL  LACKS   in some places!
