Just wondering what everyone's favorite class is, and from which particular game they liked it most in.
Blood Mage from Vanguard would have to be my favorite. I loved that you could move while casting, and how unique the class was.
Second for me would be EQ1's Shadowknight. That game has defined for me what a "dark/shadow/etc" Knight in any game should be like.

Anarchy Online Engineer
My pre-CU Smuggler/Creature Handler, smuggler/droid engineer and yes, changed him again to a smuggler/starship engineer.
Bounty Hunter / Pistoleer from pre-cu SWG, because I liked getting hate tells from noob Jedi.
I gotz a 300,000 BTU WTFBBQ!
Nice topic
Personally, I prefer skill based, but my favorite class to this point still has to be:
Light spec eldritch from DAOC. I still havent found an MMO class that fit my play style as well as that one. Was the typical CC/utility caster with AE mez, single target stun, long range sight debuff, good single target nuke...
Its funny, because I always thought it was a some what over powered spec, but few played it and some thought it was gimp. Then, several months ago, I looked in on DAOC again and Light spec was the most recomended spec. lol. Dont know if they buffed it up even more of if peole just caught on...finally.
Unfortunately, I dont think anything like this class exists in current MMOs. CC has been toned down (alot) and most of the utility classes are now pet classes, for some reason.
I, too, perfer skill based MMORPGs. But, i did like my ranger/ninja on FFXI and my bounty hunter/carbiner/medic on SWG before it crashed.

As with the previous posters, I prefer a non class based system/skil based. My favorite classes I have played however were the Reaver from Horizons, and the Monk from EQ1.
Mastermind from City of Villains. It took everything I love about pet classes...and raised its power level to OVER 9000! I, too, prefer sandboxes....but nothing those games have ever done came close to what I loved about having an army of 6 Thugs raining bullets down on everything I saw. Or watching a unit of robots send piles of enemies sailing through the air in a hailstorm of laser fire and explosions. IT was the only "pet-class" to actually BE a "pet-class". All other in the MMO world are just regular classes WITH pets. By being nothing but a pet class...CoX allowed for pets to actually be useful...and created an almost RTS feel to the playing of the class as a whole.
Just about any type of Main Healer Class!
SWG Pre-CU Doctor or Combat Medic/Carbineer. Doesn't get any better than that....
Dark Avenger from Lineage 2. Great tank with nice and fun skills.
"If I had a d*ck, I'd go get laid. But we can do that next best thing... Let's kill people."
My first choice is any class I build myself through careful selection of skills in a sandbox game. As for games with predefined classes I loved my Phantom Ranger in Lineage II and I also liked my Dark Elf Shadow Knight I had in the original EQ.

As mentioned before...
Pre NGE Doctor in SWG
Engineer in Anarchy Online.
Hard to pick which one I liked the best.
I completely agree. I hate that newer MMO's seem to be ditching more utility/CC classes. AoC for example, i wish they had a bard, and an enchanter of some sort.

Magician in EQ1
I'm also currently enjoying my robot / dark mastermind in CoV
Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.
Benjamin Franklin
Either Tactician or Hive Keeper from Asheron's Call 2, these are the most uniqe and original classes I've ever played.
Looking forward to equipping a Wrench or a Wasp Nest again sometime in the future
Im liking the look of the dwarf engi from WAR atm
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms
AMD 4800 2.4ghz-3GB RAM 533mhz-EVGA 9500GT 512mb-320gb HD
Bard from Vanguard.
Midgard Hunter from DAoC
My Orc Destroyer and Dark Avenger from Lineage 2
I would prefer a skill based game but none I played where ever really in a technical state I could stand playing to include the psychotic - ever changing bug ridden "classic" or pre-CU SWG of the past.
Least favorite, IMHO - LotR had some of the dullest, unoriginal classes ever put out. (of the MMO's I have played)
Oh...and Tabula Rasa..WTF was that?
FERAL INTENDENT AC2
wish I had mine in WOW or any other gme I play.
How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?
I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work.
1. Vanguard: Cleric
2. Everquest: Monk
3. WoW: Hunter
4. Everquest 2: Necro
Elementalist/Necromancer from Guild Wars. Great combination of damage and healing.
Jason
umm... light spec was always recommended for pvp since the beginning... but Nightshade in DAoC for me
Swordsman/Doctor/Jedi apprentice from classic SWG.
Fire/Radiation (boo to Kinetics) Controller from City of Heroes.
Necromancer/Monk from Guild Wars.
Both for similar reasons; walk into a mass of NPCs and AFK.
Little Off topic somewhat but I'm looking forward to the black guard in WAR it just looks bad ass cant wait till they give out descriptions on its main abilities. I'm assuming its gonna be a tank mainly because the Dark Elf dont have a tank class at the moment.
