What is grouping like in AoC?

I am wondering what grouping is like (not how it can be, but what people are actually doing)? Is this a solo game where you group only when you have to, or is it group-designed where you log in and get into pick-up groups mostly?

I grouped for 1st time at lvl18 and is was fun...type /group to talk in group chat

Ive grouped twice and Im 27. Everytime I grouped they never said anything. Grouping needs a lot of work in AoC.

Part of that is the community's fault, but the other part is that you don't need to communicate at all. Everyone just runs in and fights which is really sad.

So far, It is a lot like LoTR has far has grouping goes. Almost everyone is soloing for the most part. If you do get a group going, no one talks and hardly no group tatics are used at all. I see it has a trend in online games these days. I do not know what higher levels are going to be like though. I am only level 25, but I am not to thrilled about it. The ability to find group members on the map does need to be improved though. It is very hard to find your group off it.

I ended up joining a large guild just to help find groups. So far, it has helped me a lot, but a lot members just want to solo all the time unless they need help. Im hoping that running a main healer class will help in the long run!
