authentication error

Hi all I have several minutes until my AOC forum access is up and running so I was hoping I could get some help here :)

I have enetered my activation key w/o a problem I hacve even changed my password so I know iot is 100% correct when I enter it @ the log in screen, but when I enter my account details I'm meet with a authentication error any idea ?

 

I have rechecked and rechecked and rechecked again that the details I entered are the same.

My web based account info is the same info u need @ the log in screen yeah ?

    how long have you waited?

     

    sometimes it takes 1 hour to update because the database is busy

    the forum handle/password is a separate thing, you have to enable it inside of your game account page. just click on "view my subscription", then "create or update my forum login". i think the servers are currently offline though, wont be up until 14:00 Gmt.

    [SOLUTION] Authentication Failure Error




    Several user are receiving an Authentication Failure error when logging into the game. This is generally cause because you have not correctly registered your retail key to your account. To do this please do the following:
    • Log into https://register.ageofconan.com and sign in using your Age of Conan account.
    • At the top of your account maangement screen will be a notice "Attention Early Access players". Under this notice there is a box to enter in your Retail CD Key. This key can be located inside your retail box (usually on the manual). Click Submit Key after typing in the key.
    • The next page should explain what you will gain with this key. At the bottom there should be a large red box (possibly 2). Click GO! next to the option that you want. I would suggest upgrading your current account so that you tie in your preorder bonuses.
    • Click Upgrade Subscription on the next page.
    • The next page should say: "Success - Upgrade Subscription - Subscription upgraded" in green. If it did you should now be able to log into your account.

    If you have followed this process exactly and you are not able to log into your account then you probably have the wrong client installed.



    To check this please open up your LocalConfig.xml file located in your install directory. To open it right click and select Edit or right click and select Open With.. and pick Notepad. Your file should look something like this (I have changed the value in PatchVersion. Your patchversion will be a long string of numbers/letters):

    <ClientHttpPatchAddr> http://aoc-us-gameupdate.live.ageofconan.com/upm </ClientHttpPatchAddr>

    <DevName> conan </DevName>

    <UniverseVersion> 2 </UniverseVersion>

    <PatchVersion> 2 </PatchVersion>



    Your patch version will be a different value (a long string of letters and numbers). If your information is not the same as listed above you have the wrong client! If you are using the Beta Client, IGN PvP Client, or Gamespot PvP Client uninstall and install the correct client.



    If AND ONLY IF you have a localconfig that looks like this:



    <HttpPatchAddr> http://aoc-eu-update.live.ageofconan.com/upm </HttpPatchAddr>

    <ClientHttpPatchAddr> http://aoc-eu-gameupdate.live.ageofconan.com/upm </ClientHttpPatchAddr>

    <HttpPatchFolder> AoCLiveEU </HttpPatchFolder>

    <UniverseAddr> aoc-eu-um.live.ageofconan.com:7000 </UniverseAddr>

    <DevName> conan </DevName>

    <UniverseVersion> 2 </UniverseVersion>

    <PatchVersion> x47bb9b332ea75aaab1148f740472aa06 </PatchVersion>



    Then replace it with the first one I listed. This will fix your problem!

    Same problem here. I entered my account key via the Funcom website, logged in and actually started creating a character. I had to log out, so I quit before creating my character. Upon trying to log in 5 minutes later, I received the authentication error.

    Now when I log into the Funcom website, the box asking you for your retail key has re-appeared. Upon attempting to enter it, I'm told that it isn't a valid key.

    Interesting.

    I have installed 3 copies on three separate computers today, and one of them has this issue. The game thinks my password is wrong but the website lets me log in using it. My brother will be gutted when he gets back from work if I havent fixed it by then :(

     edit:

    oddly, I can log onto both working accounts on any of the 3 computers, but on the dodgy one I get no luck on any pc, so Its an issue with registration, not client files. Tried re-entering product key as mentioned above but still no joy. anyone with any more info on how they solved this would be really appreciated!

    I got the same problem as you guys. ive registered my account and upgraded it with my retail key but i cant log into game... only able to log into the website where u upgrade the account. my forum account doesnt even work:S

    I have allready tried the guiding post from Nadia but it still dont work!!...

    Would appreciate any help guys
