Just started to play AOC. Is this a sick joke !?

* Update after reaching level 27 *



I registered the account. No problems.



I installed and patched the game. No problems.



I fired up the game and set it on highest settings. 



So far I have played 18 hours. Not a single time have there been

any lag or disconnects. 



The starter area (level 1 - 20) is huge. I've never seen such

a big area before. There are a dussin of dungeons, everyone

is unique. Amazing.



Voice over up to level 20 !!!! . And it's really good quality.

How can people complain about voice overs end after level 20 !!!!

Not even the biggest MMO of the market has a single voice over,

except for sounds like "Zug Zug". People should be glad that there

ARE voice overs



People complained about immature players in chats. Well, that might

be a US - server problem, because on the EU servers everyone is

nice and helpful (at least on my server).



Thank god for instancing. Serveral times I've been in areas

that have quickly been overcrowed. People start fighting over

NPCs. Switching to a less croweded instance is really easy.

I love it. Thank you Funcom . No more wait for NPC spawns.

DX9 or DX10. Who cares !!! They game looks amazing as it is now.

Some places are just jaw dropping.



Combat in AOC is fun. I can melee fight several NPCs at the same

time. No more single target fighting. And I thought that the combat

system would be boring after a while. But instead it's getting better

and better as I increase in level. More complex and cool combos.

I CAN CLIMB !!! Woot ... I know EQ2 has it to. But I'm happy they

added it to AOC. The climb thing allow for better terrains planning.

Instead of huge flat fields, you just climb to a new level. Brilliant

The quest interface is really good. It uses arrows on the minimap

to show you the direction of the quest area. An as you arrive you

will see a big gray circle on the mini-map which show where you

should look for stuff. Thank god. No more ALT-TAB to look for

clues on the web .



The level 1-20 introduction to Conans world is the best I've ever

seen. It's cinematic, and you are the star. I love when the vulcano

explode



I feel I'm playing one of the most amazing MMOs I've ever seen.

amazing. WTF are all the AOC trollers and bashers talking about.

For being newly released, this is either gods work, or a sick joke.



The only thing I hate right now, Is how to get motivated to play my

other MMOs. AOC have set new standards of what we should

expect from todays MMO .

AOC touched them in bad places.

 They are now relegated to exaggerate things that none cares about in order to fill the empty space constant complaining fills.

Yeah its amazing.  The water is absolutly beautiful.     Theres this spot once you leave tortage, I forget the name, but its something like crows valley, anyways, you can stand in this spot and see this huge zone layed out with a couple villages and streams/rivers and stuff, and in the distance on the mountain a waterfall is cascading down.

Great comeback, really.

The difference being that blizzard prioritizes their forum trolling employees AFTER the game developers.  Since the product sells itself they don't need to send a crew around smearing other games.  Actually most games do a good enough job of smearing themselves that blizzard doesn't even need to.

You'll find some flaws soon enough, but yeah this game is very impressive.  It may not be the gigantic sandbox I'd like it to be, but for what it is it's well polished, fun to play, has good mechanics, and had a spectacular launch.  People just can't accept that all games have flaws, then they feel the need to bash the game because of one little flaw that didn't meet their expectations.  It's pretty pathetic IMO.

Turbine? LOTRO has amazing graphics also.  Im no fan boy, but its really amazing. That being said I have ordered age of conan, have a lifetime sub to LOTRO, and am currently playing the burning crusade. I like them all in thier own ways so far.

I feel like the victim of a bait-and-switch. Totally clicked on this expecting a "Funcom Support SUX!" post. haha

I've definitely seen worse launches in my time.

I am by no means a fan boy of anything. I think I keep an open mind when it comes to all things. I think its great you like this game! I really do. Just becuase you like something, or I dislike something dosent make the game Great, or Bad. ITs all about having fun. If you are having fun then more power to you. I have never seen the Rational of people trying to press there belifes down someones mouth before I entered the Game world. They are worse then Mormon Missionaries.

 

I for one do not enjoy the game. I think I will pick it up again in a few months. I played it. Did not have fun so I dont think i should play it anymore.

I'd say you're right for all intents and purposes, although for the record SWG had ads that played during the previews for Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith in movie theatres.  That's a pretty large audience to market to as well.  That being said, it's obvious that wow is the cultural hit of mmos.

I just meant that the whole PR crew is pointless if the product isn't good.  Sure you can get people to buy it, but they wont stick around if the product itself isn't good.

I'm saying blizzard was wise enough to prioritize the game first.

AoC finds itself in the same situation many recent MMOs have - its more important to generate hype so that the initial release numbers will a) help cover the production costs and b) be big enough to give the game some momentum.  This all because the game itself will not support a community and keep in growing like WoW has.

Sheesh people. I made this post to make a point. Namely to say that calling someone a Company Employee simply because he makes a post that he's enjoying the game and can't understand all the bashing it is receiving, is pretty ridiculous.

 

I could run around calling everyone who makes positive posts about some game or another an employee of the company producing that game. It's a silly, groundless accusation. That's all I wanted to say. -.-

Ok - im only 13 lvls in but first impressions:

- very smooth launch. getting 50fps consistently with no lag or flicker.

- grpahics, nice but i feel a little dissapointed. I recall being more impressed with EQ2 and VG on high settings that thiis. Its not ugly by any stretch but not as good as i was expecting

- combat - very good so far, i like the new system but could see pressing 1 2 3 gettng old at some point. My first decapitation was very cool though

- UI - I so hope the first retail patch maked the UI customisable. Its bloody huge.

- Gameplay...erm, so far I have to say it feels average. Not bad but not revolutionary either.

Overall - very very early days but it looks like a solid enough game but has yet to grab me in the way that EQ2 and Lotro did on the first day.

You may be right, but it's way too prematurely to talk about this. With the game running officially today in EU and for a couple more days in US, you can't really tell how many people will end up staying in AoC after the month is over. And for certain, they won't be staying because the marketing is strong.

It's even premature to compare AoC's launch with WOW's original launch. Besides, even to consider making such a comparison is a testament of a good launch, isn't it?

The gender needs good games and good launches, even if the games themselves are niche and don't catter to everyone's tastes. If we throw to mud everything that is produced, soon enough we'll end up with nothing to play.

Well been playing the game most of the day as got it this morning only lvl 16 so far but im happy. The graphics are not bad but considering the resoces they use should be better the game is system hog i can run crysis on high settings and runs smooth and looks better but had to change few settings in aoc.The game play is nice and difrent makes change to useual stuff. Questing seems a bit messy but think thats mroe to do with map layouts.The game is slightly buggy but thats to be exspected so not bothered about that. All in all i think its good game but not great game seems to be missing something but cant putt finger on it. So far i cant say weather ill stick with it or not need to wait till i see end game content before i decide on that.

All kidding aside, I'm impressed with the game so far.  But I'm only level 14 on one character, so there's so much more I'm going to have to experience before I consider pronouncing it "the best game evah!"

But it is a matter of personal taste, so I realize some folks might be truly captivated from the get-go, I might just be too jaded any more for that to happen.

Agreed that some post made here as so hate filled its amazing devs have the will to go on

however I take more notice of posts made at MMORPG that a supposed unbaiast review at ... say IGN, people here say what they think and in this case reading that people are likeing the launch and arent seeing the lag and stuttering I seen in beta, im gonna go up and pick up a copy.

Im a sucker for MMOG's but im stuck with not much to play atm, finished GTA4 and I dont like its multiplayer.

  Sure people can make a post or two praising  the game, it has many virtues thats for sure. But this guy has posted no less than 10 posts like this one in the last week. Makes you wonder...

Youve never had an Anarchy Online account or never bothered wanting to use the same account. Many people are upset because they have to create two different accounts for the same company. Its like creating new accounts under SOE if you wanna play SWG, EQ, EQ2, etc.
