Finally got emailed a replacement key which registered ok and I've set up my account and payment details, now when I run the game and try to log in it fails! Anyone else getting this? Any ideas?
I would have liked at the very, very least to receive an automated email response - I would probably relax a little more if I knew for sure my email had arrived where it was supposed to be and was in the system.
A day and a half so far with no communication whatsoever with Funcom is just not good enough.
Right now, great game or not, I don't know I want to give my money to a company that - in my opinion - is treating me like shit.
I got a reply from Funcom today, but they only said my key was a Viable one that was supposed to work, but when I try to upgrade my account it shows that it is a Collectors Edition and that i can choose to upgrade my account, so when i press the upgrade account button it says "this key cannot upgrade this account". Agh! Im going mad!

Are you sure that you sent an email to the address generated by the 'You have received a faulty CD key' screen?
I tried to install the game on Friday afternoon, well most of the Friday afternoon that I had taken off work since it took well over an hour to install from DVDs & then downloaded lots of patches. I sent the first email to Funcom soon after discovering my UK CE key didn't work using the default 'contact support screen' & received an automated reply soon after.
After browsing news pages about the scale of the UK CE problem, I found one forum post that claimed that their key mysteriously worked after a while. I tried validating it again around 7:30pm and this time the screen immediately recognised the issue and told me to email the above address quoting my full details & faulty key. About 20 minutes later I recieved a reply from 'Ben K via RT' with a new key that thankfully worked first time. I think they must have laid on extra resources to deal with emails to the above address, possibly at the expense of the normal customers support channels.
Since you mentioned having received an automated reply, I thought might not have tried using the above address, as I only got an automated reply from the default support email. Either way though, I hope you get a reply soon.
If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?
I have the same problem with the "your CD key is broken" screen. I dutifully emailed customer services and was very happy when I saw the customer service email arrive in my inbox. Until I read it.......:
"Dear customer,
The key supplied by you was not on our broken key list and is bound to an existing account.

Oh great. So my account has been hacked even before I managed to create it. I have emailed Amazon (which is where the game came from) to see what they can do. No doubt I will have to return it for a replacement that also will not work. I have of course also emailed Funcom but no doubt they will assume I am some kind of criminal who is trying to get a free key from them.
Thanka for the comments LondonMagus. I just double checked my "sent emaiL" box and the mail I send did go to the correct place for a key replacement. I did not recieve an automated email but would have liked one - just to feel confident I was in a queue and waiting for a reply.

Well you have your prof. of purchace in your email and the key ask them that its hacked and what to do they will probily ask you to send it back so they can deal with the hacker which is probily one of the gold sites.
p.s. i am sick of the bad service as i shouldn't have to wait from friday morning(0 GMT) i sent a complant with the key so i should get a respons soon as its there fault in the first place.
I am still waiting for some sort of response from Funcom regarding my borken CE key. Been 3 days and nothing!!!
this things still going on?! man, funcom pr/costumer serv sucks. i thought i was the last one to get the replacement key. what is worse is i (and probably you also) longed for the game and dont want to say "bugger this, im out"
if you have a friend who has account they can maybe send petition to a gm, some people got their keys that way.
Just recieved my CE yesterday and i must say to be the most unlucky person.... After i opened the box i realized that there was no disc 2..... But a minor problem cause i borrowed a disc from a freind.. And now after installing and patching, the same problem as you all..
Activation key is broken........ Hoping to recieve a mail today...
An other problem is that i can't run the update manager it says:
This install of Age of Conan is already running. Age of Conan only supports running multiple sessions from different installation folders...
Tried to take the game back to retailer - argued that it was not fit for purpose as, in its current state, it was impossible to use the product. Idiot kept arguing that the key had been used to I had to explain over and over and over that the key had NOT been used as it was a bad batch. Without intervention from Funcom it can never BE used.
I am supposed to receive a replacement copy of the CE tomorrow - I doubt very much that the item was (a) actually available to be shipped to my local store and (b) that the key will work anyway.
I feel ripped off and sick as a dog about the whole bloody game and Funcom can go shove the CE up their arse - they don't get a single penny out of me.
Did everyone here that has Collector's Edition, receive a manual with their copy of the game? I purchased it today and I have no manual and I can't find the cd key anywhere.
return it and get another one asap if you can. did happen to some other people, dont know what they did though.
I too have fallen victim to this stupid, rediculous 'Broken CD key' farse.
I'm from the UK, and I actually work in GAME. However, all the Age of Conan collectors editions have been recalled from our stores because the box art displays a "15" BBFC age rating, when the game is an 18 so we can't legally sell them any more.
I had to purchase my box online, (luckily I found a new and sealed one for little more than my staff discount) and it arrived next day - I was very pleased! Until I tried to create my account. I sent the email, as requested, and got back an email saying the key is already in bloody use. What a rip off.
I've sent back to them a message stating that the item was new and still sealed - so the key couldn't have been used, and that's it's not my fault if your team is deactivating or re-issuing these keys. I've demanded a key and if they can not comply I've demanded a phone number so that I can sort this out with a person. I also said that if they can not comply with that, I will be contacting Trading Standards - if the product is not fit for sale then action needs to be taken to prevent this happening to other people.
It really is a bad example of terrible customer service - I've had one guy come in to our shop 3 times with the normal (not the collectors) edition, with the same problem - I swapped it for him each time, despite the fact we're not allowed to swap PC games , especially MMO's, and eventually the poor chap gave up and lost hope.
Just to let you know, I sent my first and second email at about 10pm on 6th of September GMT, and got the first response sometime this morning 7th September at 5:46am. What worris me is the date on all of your posts. I hope this matter can be resolved quickly.
I don't know what kind of outcome people got for this. Personally I had a broken key, used the email provided, never heard a thing. Had to fight tooth and bloody nail to get the game swapped. To this day, have never had so much as an automated email on the issue.
It never fails to astonish me how the consumer laws for video games is allowed to be different. Any other product would have been ruled "not fit for purpose" under UK consumer law and I would have been entitled to a refund or replace. Stupid retailers kept going on as if I was stealing the damned software and trying to cheat a refund even though they knew of the problem and I kept explaining over and over that the key did not work and was therefore of no use to anyone......
I will admit that the strife I had getting a working key added to the pain in the arse I had of getting the bloody thing to work as well probably tainted my opinion of the game from the very start.
I suppose I may as well comment since I posted a couple of time earlier in this thread in it's first life.
I also had a bad collector's edition key, but I was one of the lucky ones that got a fast response!
Judging by the posts of people that had the problem before I discovered it, after enough people had complained for Funcom to realise they had a potential PR disaster on their hands they set up a special team & specific email address to deal with it. I think I must have been in the first batch to get handled by the new team as I had a response within 20 minutes.
Unfortunately they didn't seem to have checked through all the people who had complained about the same thing earlier via the customer service route as many of those still hadn't got a response days later & there was a lot of confusion as they didn't publicise it that well for obvious reasons. I also get the impression that once the first rush of complaints had been handled they reduced the allocation of operators dealing with it as many of the people that didn't install the game on Launch day also seemed to be waiting for quite a while.
I guess any special recognition of the 'Bad Key Issue' is long gone now & since most people that complained via the customer service route seemed to have bad experiences, you might be in for a long wait.
Assuming you eventually get it resolved, I hope you think it was worth all the effort.

Still waiting....
I emailed both the bad key email and the customer support email...
No friggin answer.
Now I'm having my buddy petition them ingame to get a move on.

Thanks mate, think this was pretty much the only copy of CE left in my state though, I couldn't track anymore down. I'll see what I can do though.
