was surfing around and saw that this game recently went into open beta for the US.
i looked around on it, seems to have a little more quality on the animation side to it at least, although i did read around and it seems to be somewhat of a grinding game. (but then again, what MMO doesnt have some sort of grind?)
its worth checking out i think, i haven't gotten around to actually trying it because i just bought AoC about an hour ago.. hehe
but to those out there lookin this could be a decent game: developed by the people who came out with Ragnarok online
so anyways, yeah google it check it out if youre interested, i'm not one to be asked about the game, just spreading the word since i didnt see it on the gamelist
edit: woops yeah its on the gamelist: but oh wells ;P

It is definately a nice game when you like cash shop games, graphics are really good for a cash shop item game. The grind is up to lvl 30 minimal in comparison to general asian grinders, since quests give you a lot of xp. Cant say how is it in the mid-high lvl area. I did hear there is lack of content but didnt go into any higher lvl areas, i bet i will quit before i touch these lvl areas since iam bored already more or less, not really any refreshing new things.
If you like PvE and dungeons, i think this game offers lots of fun gameplay. PvP is in my opinione a bit broken and needs a lot of improvement, between class balances but also the movement and hit range. So if you are looking for awesome pvp, i guess this is not the game you are looking for.
But dont expect a blockbuster mmorpg or similarity to content and quality like WoW, its fun to hang around during open beta but probably not a game for longterm motivation, for that i guess warhammer will do the job.
The game is rated for mature, but it isnt really a game for mature players at all. The only reason for mature rating is, that you see more blood and gore in this game..nothing else to find for mature gamers. Most of the community are teenagers so far i could see and read, so you know what will await you.
What you can expect:
- quests but not always loads of it for every lvl
- instance pvp maps, did see only 2 so far lvl 10-19, lvl 20-29 and so on. pvp is a bit broken like i wrote, especially if you are used to quality pvp.
- dungeons, small but some of them are interesting
- weapon echantement + auction house, kind of monster form for each player which you can lvl up, with skills and stuff
- guild structure
- game maps are nice but a bit small
If you want to start the game, be carefull there is no skill reset available for each class.

The game has decent graphics, and that's about it. Generic asian grindfest follows.
Played three characters up to the mid-teens so far; true, it's a Korean aesthetic and play style, but accept it for what it is, look at it within that context. One either likes those style games or not.
For an open beta it runs very well on an older machine and looks great, whereas AoC barely functions (in fact, I have yet to get the sound to work consistently). Overall art design and environments are nice--some of the mid-level cities are really beautiful in a steampunk meets Giger meets Sword of the New World kind of way.
My biggest issue--the same problem I have with every MMO really--is that the creature mobs have no reality other than to serve as targets. One of the little gargoyle-like critters flies around with its infant and tosses it in the air playfully every once in a while--a striking little animation for what it suggests. How much memory would it take to program a few believable mob interactions? Mobs almost never feed, sleep, play, mate, forage, communicate, herd--so you have these abstract creatures (some of which are very cool in design) that have no life, backstory, or real reason to exist. I want to feel like I've intruded into their lives, which are going on without me. But again, other than Ryzom, what MMO has considered this?
Requiem's environments are very quiet--there are some nice combat sounds, but little music, and no NPC voices. As a result the world--already pretty spare--can feel cold and lifeless.
I like the combat a lot. Nice, fluid animations, and the Havoc physics engine is used effectively. I have to agree that my experience with PvP was pretty underwhelming. But I'm one of those players who doesn't care much for PvP anyway.
For a FtP game, Requiem surpasses what experience would suggest. If you go in with reasonable expectations, it is a pretty addictive little game that runs well, and looks great; maybe not the game of a lifetime, but not bad either.
I agree with all the prior posters. Requiem's graphics are what entice you to play. Unfortunately, you can't really interact with them. Stairs are often unclimbable as are most inclines, open canyons and drop offs are blocked by invisible walls. Surfaces are just barriers, which you can easily peek around. You can't punch or throw a weapon at a wall. Player characters and mobs are ghosts to be walked through. This lack of substance becomes an issue in combat where you have to face an opponent in order to attack it - and it runs through you (so you can't land a hit). The mobs don't have the sight-attack limitation so it make combat frustrating. There's no real substance to the environment...it just looks nice.
Although there are oceans and lakes, your character can't do anything but swim on the surface. It's all just eye-candy.
In response to the NPCs only being targets. This is why i loved Star Wars Galaxies. The animals would sometimes heard together in a pack. And if you attacked say a baby creature the mother or older would come after you also. The creatures would acually feed and sleep sometimes. And of course all of them acually have a back story and different traits and such. I can't wait to play requiem it seems liek it will be very good. I am going to play it until the SWGEmu finishes the emulator of course.
