Will WoW have separate PvP and PvE servers?

in World of Warcraft

I see in the beta version of WoW there are separate PvP servers. I assume those for free for alls. When the release occurs will there still be seperate servers? If so, will the PvE servers still allow consentual PvP?

    Of course there will be PvE and PvP in retail...

    Ya PvP servers and PvE servers will be seperate, also blizzard will probly put some other servers in like Roleplaying.

    OK stupid question what is the difference between PvE and roleplaying servers?

    Understand that there are different servers, but will you have to have different characters or can your character participate on either server, something you pick as you log in.

    Please undestand that I will be coming from an SWG world, not that this is a good thing, but want to understand if I will be working on one character or two.

    No, when you create a character on the PvP server, you can't just go over to the PvP server or vice versa. I think that would throw some balance out of the game because someone could create a character and get it to level 60 and have the best gear in the game for that Race/Class and then would just go over to the PvP server and smash on people.

    The reason I say this is because I expect leveling to go a bit slower on a PvP server than the leveling of PvE. For obvious reasons, people will be killing each other rather than doing quests and killing NPC mobs as much. Notice I didn't say they won't do it at all, it's just they will be fighting PCs more often. I know they won't allow it, this is just a reason that I think they aren't allowing it.

    The servers they have now, do NOT reflect the servers they will have at retail.

    The PvP was put in for the soul purpose of tweaking how the faction vs faction will work. Also, the way the PvP is now is NOT how it will be at retail. They just took the game and basicaly allowed horde and alliance to fight it out, so that they could test some various things. Now that the first stage of that is over, they're going to start putting in some of the pvp features they've spoke of.

    The RPing servers will probably have some requirements on names and chat where players must have names that blend with the world ( good names like Thrall, Cenarius, or Zul'Jin) instead of crazy wacked out names like (MrMuffinMan or ILoveCupcakes.)  However they will probably make both PvP and PvE RPlaying severs, since that really has no effect on RPing.

    Has Blizzard come out and say that there will be an RP server at release? I am not sure if they did or not, but Zafar, you are talking as if they did. So did they? I would enjoy playing on an RP server from time to time. Me and my rag-tag group of friends could be the Antagonists of the realm. Tee hee!

    Srry for sounding so sure of myself.  As of yet I did not hear directly from blizzard, perhaps it was a rumor.  I could of sworn I saw a post by blizzard on the subject, but alas, I have couldn't find it to back myself up.  That is how I believe it would be implemented.

    Just got done looking and this is what I found right away:

    Will there be Realms specifically for role-playing?
    We want to ensure that role-players will have the best experience possible in World of Warcraft. This may include having specific role-playing servers, (and probably will) but that decision has not yet been reached.

    Since the last time that the FAQ was actually updated, that is what they have come up with. No telling how much that idea has evolved or advanced or anything since then. I hope they do more FAQs during the next patch.

    So, the game will most likely have RP servers. I will probably play on one, but not for my main character.
