I doubt this is true. Xfire i not the right tool to use this for. For the simple reason that not everyone uses xfire. I use it sometimes, but most of the people I play with online never use it.
I find Xfire suspect, since they have LOTRO ranked as 26, EQ2 ranked 87 and EVE ranked 24. You're telling me FLYFF, Maplestory and CABAL ONLINE are more played by the MMO community? No.
Also, those are based off hour usage not subscriber usage.
Means nothing at all. Lets face it the MMO world is stagnent, boring and needs some new life. Here comes AOC, oh hey it s new lets try it. So alot do , many people will not re sub when new MMo s come out. I know a few myself. This X-Fire thing means nothing , my whole guild in EQ2 about 120 members, never used it. None that i know of but i know if any did it was very few.
I don't know why everyone is getting so defensive over this. It's like it hurts you guys to see aoc might have some success.
bottom line is, of course conan is seeing a lot of play right now; it's the only mmo to come out in what seems like forever... any gamer with a decent enough computer will probably try it out. what's $40? but will they stay after a month? that is the question. make this post in 30 days then we'll see how many people are willing to pay monthly for this.
gotta give this some time everyone. wait for some threads titled "man what a great siege last night!!" or "my lvl 80 review". it's too early to judge this game. it's fun to speculate but that's all any of this is.

Yup, you're right, but we also have the right to call the OP an idiot for taking Xfire stats and claiming that they represent the MMO community, then rubbing AoC's "success" in everyone's face. He deserves it.

The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Personally, I find the title to be a lie and the OP a liar.
There weren't even enough copies of AoC shipped to net 12.5% of the MMO community. Maybe narrowed down to certain sections of the world, but the MMO community is estimated to be well into the double digits of millions.
Kudos to funcom though. Seems they hit the ground running and that helps all of us. The MMO scene was hurting pretty desperate for another example that it is worth investing in MMOs.

Are you seriously that delusional?
Here's a fun fact for you, NONE of my friends, including me, had ever heard of Xfire until I saw it mentioned here and asked them about it.
I don't use xfire .. simple reason = made by mtv.
So basically WoW lost 12% of its community for a month.
Yea. They might come back. On the other hand, they might not..LOTRO actually had a 25% decrease from previous Saturday. From an average of 12500 hrs to 9550 hrs: Link
Only time will tell.

Given the high number of Xfire users, I think it should be statistically representative for the rest of the community.
This thread is misleading. Xfire is not used by all, and I doubt even most of the MMO community.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

You may want to reword it: 12.5% of all Xfire users played AoC last night versus 12.5% of the MMO community.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

and... no. You can't make assumptions like that.

That would still be wrong, because those stats are hours logged in. Not users logged in.
Headline edit: NEWSFLASH. A lot of Xfire users played AoC last night for several hours.
you still didnt change the topic header lol

A lot of players who stopped using Xfire for WoW probably re-installed it when they bought AoC.
So that 12.5% is probably more like 4.5% who legitimately we're using Xfire before AoC was released.
I was thinking about doing that a few days ago. But I don't like Xfire.

XFire is still relevant?
Used by people who like spyware on there computer, so I doubt it is used by enough gamers to make a difference.
