AoC questions (unbiased answers plz)

instances i can deal with, powerful rig as well.

fanboi loving it

haters hating it.... same as every game i've ever seen. "OMG BEST MMO EVAR" is always thrown out rampant by people in the first month.

so lets not have any of that in this thread.

simple questions, is the leveling curve on this game steep? or are ppl lvl 80 and bored already (if hardcores are already max then even me wont get enough time outa it)

Is this another cookie cutter questfest thats been released since eq2/wow era.

why is pvp so ups and downs with ppl all over the internet, some say its worst ever, some say its awesome? please if you elaborate on this question tell me former games pvp you have enjoyed or hated so i can get at least a little picture of what type of pvper's are digging it.

PvP means more than anything to me soo hook up the info ppl

I understand there are plenty of level 40 and 50 people running around - those are the hardcore gamers. "Core" gamers are in the 20-35 range. Casual players are still in the newbie zone. IMO, leveling is far too easy. Think WoW.

I wouldn't say this is a cookie cutter game. AoC has some great ideas. For example, I play a healer class, but I'm not a heal bot. My character sees a lot of melee action.

As for PvP, I didn't try it because without a death penalty, no one cares if they die and you can never truly hurt the enemy. If you like zerging, you will love AoC PvP.

leveling curve is rather easy. i got to levle 33 allready  with not too much playtime. from what i heared you will run a bit dry on quests in the 40-50 levels so i guess that will decrease leveling speed then.

currently i think 1-80 is doable in one month, for real hardcore levelers in less than that.

leveling basically is the same questfest than in other games, quests give best xp, so everyone will do them.  the combat is different but the quests are still same (maybe some are a bit more brutal, but thats only the world), kill x of y, fed ex quests, destroy this... (nothing really new in quests area as far asi can see till lvl 33). don't get me wrong the quests are nto bad but i have maybe done a few too many of them in the last years thats why i am not really happy about nother game thats built around leveling by quests. (i was also not happy when eq2 changed from dungeon/group leveling to solo quest leveling with rok).

cannot comment much on pvp its a big gankfest like any free for all pvp will end up at least in the start. if you like mostly meaningless ganking at its purest then it might be fun, if you want meaningfull pvp then you probably have to wait how people judge on the siege pvp, but as far as i know most guild are still mainly concentrating on leveling.

While so far, responses in this thread have been honest and considerate, be careful.

The forums are not the best place to look for unbiased answers.

Anyways, on the third point: "PvP means more than anything to me soo hook up the info ppl"

You're in the right place. When they actually have it working, you'll definitely enjoy siege warfare. If you can take the whole game with a grain of salt, and focus on the PvP, you will have a good time. There are still issues with balance/bugs... but PvP is exiting and fun.

the game is perfect in every single way, there is not a single flaw with the game. You should play it because everyone agrees it's perfect. Only trolls say there are things wrong with it but they also know deep down the game is perfect.

great replies, i know exactly how ya feel man, quest grinding as the progressional way of gaining levels has gotten even worse than grp grinding in my own opinion of course.

However i can survive and grinding if the pvp is there to play with.

So im afraid i must ask a couple more questions to elaborate on.

Does anyone know yet if seige is battleground style (wow/daoc causal game within a game, personal rewards only) or is it open warfare in the world (whether that be in a specific zone or what have you)?

Also whats the community looking like for your server pvp, i.e. is it anti-pk vs pk style like teh old games? complete indifference? kill or be killed? the only pvp is high lvls ganking low lvls? crazy battles of grp vs grp and or guild vs guild/ race vs race? all of the above? some new form i've never experienced?

you get my drift, gimme a your idea of what its really like on there from your own experience or playtime.

edit- dont take the flamebait from the guy above me plz, keep the good answers coming like the first 3
