I know I asked this same question elsewhere, but I thought I'd ask here as to double my chances of a response. If I broke a forum rule then I am very sorry.
Anyway,
I'm getting a new laptop and was wondering how it would handle age of conan, as well as what graphic settings I should disable. here are the specs.
Acer Aspire 6920g gemstone blue.
I understand that because it's a notebook it wont run high end, but will it give me good fps on low to medium settings?
Comments
since its a notebook you're goinna get some unexplained lag spikes and sputtering. Its a good specced notebook but notebooks dont run very well with AoC.
Youll be able to play it tho

Thanks Enigma, that's all I needed to know
you should be able to get 35-45 fps on medium setting with the laptop. Still very good. Go for it if you havent bought it yet

From what I managed to gather, m9500 GS graphics chip is on par with previous m8600GT,which you could stil find in Dell XPS gaming laptops or macbook pros. i know first hand the latter are capable of running Conan decently, they got better processors tho- 2.4 GHz compared to only 2 Ghz in your Acer. On a side note, I find this laptop very intriguing with its 16 inches display and excentric case.
Heh I have to wait for pay day to roll around to buy both the laptop (which from what I've seen is a beautiful piece of kit) and the game. I've been out of the MMO world for a while now. I've played WOW, SWG and FFXI and decided AoC is the game to get me going again.
yuck
Get a tower
Due to my space limitations and the need to cart my primary unit to and from work a notebook makes far more sense for my needs.
ahh
Well you should be fine with what you got.
I would not spend 3k on a upgrade just to play this game
I wouldn't go for the 9500, but if you have no choice, then you will have to play with med settings.
from what I've seen medium for this game is still beautiful compared to high on others, so I should be happy. my current laptops GPU kind of went skitzo on me, just to keep the damn computer running I have to disable it's drivers, which means no games. so you see why I'm buying a new rig. Sadly due to budget limitations I cant go top end, but a low end gaming notebook like this should keep me happy. now just gotta wait till the damn 15th till i get paid.
Just ordered this game of NewEgg (not in stock anywhere around here) ...
Using a laptop as well
7900GS
2GB ram
7200 RPM 80 gig
Windows XP (should help a little :X)
Core2duo
Loki, in the meantime have alook around, I would personally advise you to find a laptop with CPU clocked a bit higher, Core 2 Duo 2.4-2.6 ideally, with m8600GT or 9500 obviously. a 2.0 CPU might be your bottleneck here, not a GPU chip.
They could release the darn game on xbox 360 already, that would solve upgrade problem for many people
My friend is running the game on a laptop atm. Its a c2d T7500 ,2gb ram, HD2600 512mb mobility graphics card. It runs without problems on medium settings with some functions tweaked or turned off. No crashes,no lag or problems. Maybe you can use that spec as a reference.
