Problems with my New Processor

kalimero27kalimero27 Member Posts: 21

Hello guys.

I got a bit of a problem with my new processor.

This is my computer specs...

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz

3.0 GB Ram

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Gygabyte S-Series Motherboard 945GZM-S2 (rev.2.1)

It says in the users manual it supports Intel Core 2 Duo processors and my friend got me a Brand New Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo Dual Core 3.0GHz CPU

But there is a tiny problem with getting the new processor to work with my computer.

When the Intel E8400 is in the computer it cant seem to show a single thing on my Monitor but when i put in my old Processor it works as normal...

Howcome? i nearly thought my graphic card got destroyed or something when it didnt show a single thing on my screen but it isnt..

If Anyone could gief me a hint of what im doing wrong i would Be Gratefull..

Best Regards Kali

I'm not real certain but I don't think that motherboard supports the penryn core which is what the e8400 has.

your motherboard doesn't support 1333 mhz fsb, nor does it prolly support 45nm processors. if you're really interested to keep trying try updating the bios, if it's still dead then you're s.o.l.

    good luck.

The processor your using requires a 1333 FSB.  Your motherboard is a 1066.  Kinda annoying how Intel did that huh?  All boards released since like 2004 have been 775, but not all the same FSB so it cannot support newer processors.  It can support Intel Core 2's, just not that one.
