Big shame... I think TCOS is a great game in every single aspect. And probably preferable to AOC.
But since last year it is howering in limbo of nearly finished , polishing , almost ready for release but no publisher ?
Why is that ? Why in hell are they not releasing it if its (almost) finished ? Why no publisher wants to touch it ?
Is there any solid sign that the game will be ever released ?
And when ?!?!?!
Comments
They just mentioned not too long ago that they found a US publisher.
They also said that the game would now be a simultaneous release in the US and Europe in Fall of '08.
I'm guessing more news will come in the summer about exact dates and such, hopefully they won't push it back much further, I'm dying to play this game.
Well, last news we heard is that they got a letter of intent signed by an US based publisher and that per their request to get more prep/marketing time, they have to aim for Q4 release not sooner.
Sadly, after that I got skeptical a lot.
First, it’s a convenient excuse to postpone game. Secondly, since the publishers name was never announced it's most likely not a strong deal this far and a publishing contract was not announced yet. Thirdly, developers apparently are hell bent on releasing the game in classical fashion and are not looking at alternative distribution methods.
For now, it looks like their business plan is in serious jeopardy.
Actually, most publishers prefer Q4 to any other quarter in the year due to increased holiday sales. It is VERY easy to get a publisher to wait until Q4 to release, but hard as hell to get them to postpone a game past Q4 to the following year.
So it comes as no surprise to me that the publisher requested a Q4 launch instead. And one quarter can hardly hurt the game - it is just more time for polishing and bugfixing.
Spellborn announced two months ago, if I am not mistaken, that the release of TCoS is postponed with 6 months, so I was left with the impression it comes out in September.
I also think the release will be in september. They are still beta-testing it.
I've heard they have found some major bugs that need to be fixed first before they can release the game
The TCOS devs are doing a great job. I don't think we will get an unfinished game when it will come out :-D
But I think I will certenly buy the game when it comes out! I'm following the development for 2 years now
-------------------------------------------------------------------
waiting for ... nothing..
I don't think it is september as they have not even announced who their publisher is, plus this marketing has not started yet as far as I can see so september seems a bit soon.
I am pretty sure the game will be comming out around late october early november. It seems like they are aiming for a Q4 release which also means theyll be in direct competion with Warhammer online, although I think it is a different type of person looking forward to warhammer.
I'm looking forward to both Warhammer and this game. =D
It is not true that no publisher will touch it. Already three publishers have been found for it for release in different parts of the world.
On the other hand, this game is not almost ready, else we would have been on open beta. Polishing a game is sometimes more than cosmetics and very much part of the developing process itself.
Personally I would be surprised when this game will launch this year. They said Q3 this year, but see no reason to take their word for it.

When you think about it they have no reason to release before the end of the year. As much as we all hate to admit it they can't compete with WAR or WoW expansion. If they release 6 months after they will probably get a lot of gamers trickling over from WoW AoC and WAR (to a lesser degree). If they release now people wont even hear about it.
Maybe the game is bad, but I've also heard a lot of good things coming out of beta too and I'm just curious as to why you've never posted here before...
Plus I think part of why you don't see anyone could be because I don't think they have a lot of testers, this isn't a huge name game and I wouldn't want a ton of beta testers either that always seems to lead to trouble because of all the big mouths that think the game sucks...
So I don't really know what the game will be, but I just don't want a lot of people to get turned off by this game before they try it just cause of what you say. Cause it is a bit dishearting to me to hear you say that stuff and I've been a hardcore fan of this game for so long...this game could really move the industry foward if it is a hit, even if it does have some low points, so I would like to see people at least try it.
Isn't that obvious. He is breaking NDA. So he made a new account to do it.

Well I had a good impression of this game like 6 months ago.
Now its no big expectation just a time killer till Aion/WAR.. but since they not gonna release it any time soon they are pretty f*****d.
Big crowds need a game now and might get hooked and stay even when Aion/WAR release if it turns TCoS to be good.
Waiting for q4 is too close to Aion or War or WoW expansion indeed.
They might risk hoping for WAR and Aion being pushed back again and release then... but its a big risk.
Stuff doens't work like that.
You asume people that got bored with Aion go play TCoS. The reality is, people who like the game, go play it. If you like TCoS, why would you play Aion? Only because it is a big name?
Doesn't work like that. When do people finally learn.
No I dont asume people will get bored with Aion and will go TCoS. Where u pulled that from?
oh and Aion isnt a big name yet but it will be probably cause the game will be good enough to match maybe not WoW but WAR for sure. (not saying WoW is the best just the most played).
Its quality in the end that will get bigger numbers of course but Aion is not the next AoC, we have plenty of videos and beta players opinions to know the game is good and very polished already. They dont have anything to hide like some others.
Aion showed very good things so far, TCoS didnt show much then a few good looking spells and a few nice designed buildings.
Yeah yeah... TCoS is a timekiller and Aion will be as succesful as Warhammer, that isnt even released yet. Typically fanboy talk....
What do you mean TCoS didnt showed much? TCoS have release ALLOT of information about the game through devchats, articles and story-scrolls. They showed vids about the fighting system and the PeP/Xp system and allot more. You probable didnt looked for it or you are just making things up.
Anywayz i cant wait till TCoS releases. For me TCoS is 1 of the more interesting upcoming mmorpgs cause its so original and not just a WoW copy that is made for some quick money.
Mhhmmm, I'll be honestly happy when and if this game releases having been a fan about a year ago. But I have reservations I won't share. It's a let's wait and see game right now. This publisher thing has been dragged out for soooooo long. I think that's what really killed it for me. That and I found Aion more pleasing, and I'm 90% sure it's Aion I will be playing, and I am going to bet it will the more popular one, though I don't think either of them will attain Warhammer status. But then again neither do I care. ^^
(,,,)=^__^=(,,,)
It might match WAR if WAR does not meet the expectations of the hype.
If it comes out, I'll definitely give it a try, if I am not attached to another game like WAR. If I am having a lot of fun in one game, I usually don't subscribe to another. On the other hand, if nothing is holding my interest, I keep trying new stuff until something does (or play nothing at all like atm.)
It's been too long between updates on the state of the game and/or a release date.
I have been following the game the past 6 months also and it does seem like their isnt much new information coming out....While some fo the things in the game look really good I think this game is going to be swept under the rug by alot of people.....I know alot of gamers taht have never even heard of it......TCOS just strikes me as a game that when it finally does get released it is going to be too late.
Yep, I keep dropping by to check on progress and it seems to be going backwards. When I first got interested it seemed that it was coming out before games like AoC and WAR, but now the release seems less iminent than ever.
I too am worried, we've heared nothing since April when they announced a possible agreement with a major publisher... Id hoped E3 would shed some light but nothing.. I think this silence if bad for the game they will now have to work harder at release to get back the people who stopped follwing the game the last 3 months.
