Is this game any good now? Is it worth getting?

I'm looking into trying a new MMO. How is VG?

V:SoH is now, where it should have been a year ago at launch.  Still somewhat buggy.  A little laggy here and there.  And still an empyish, static world.   But much, much better than a year ago.

If you are looking for a serious, grown-up, MMORPG and don't want to play EQ1, then V:SoH is much more the successor to EQ1 than EQ2 ever was.

It is worth a month or two of play time, and the price is right at $20.

I agree, the lower and mid level play is very good and there are still a good numbers of players of all levels (ok alt of alts too).  The end game is somewhat limited atm.  But, this does have alot more of the old EQ feel than most of the new games.

I find it to be a very well rounded game with plenty to do all the time.

Actually, I found a copy of the CE for 9.80 on amazon -- I figure I can toss 10 bucks the try it out.

I enjoy it a lot.  I've played since release and the game has improved dramatically since that time.

Yeah you should definately at least give it a shot. Why not? Wide variety of classes and races. Very big, open world. I believe great graphics, but of course opinions will differ. Absolutely awesome and memorable music and overall beautiful atmosphere. It's probably the closest game you will get with a true fantasy feel that is still quite new to the MMO scene. Just hope it runs well on your machine.  :)

I've been playing my shaman again recently in VG and loving it. I get some minor hitching occasionally, but it is nothing compared to having to constantly load new zones. I am always seeing other players in the areas I am in, and have even had to compete for camps on a regular basis, which is a good thing.

I've tried FFXI lately and that blew. Was thinking about getting into PSU as well... We'll see. Thanks all. :)
