sliders down decreases performance and results in more stutters, it wold seem that the way the game loads content and draws it as you get closer is flawed.
Wow you are right, now I set everything to high on a 2.13 ghz dual core with 2 gig ddr2 ram and a gf 8800 gts 320 card and I have 35 fps in tarantia he he.

    WEIRD!

I just wanted to add something I didn't see mentioned here... if you do all of the above, and also lower your anisotropic quality (minimum setting is 1 from a high default of 16), then you'll get another significant improvement in fps. You sacrifice a lot of image quality to do this, but if you're running a low-end system like I am (barely meets minimum requirements overclocked), then it's a good way to get your fps up to around 30+.

    This might help.

default Copied from US forums - Fps fix (worked for me)

Credits go to the posters on the US forum just thought i`d mention it here too.

I personally went from 20 fps to 60 fps on my 7800GT SLi

    Quote:
    Press ESC *or F10*.

    Go to Video Options.

Click "High". I don't care if your computer sucks. Click it and shut up.

    Go to the Advanced Tab.

    Disable shadows completely.

If you are on a laptop, scroll down to the system texture cache bar and maximize it.

    Click Apply, then OK.

There is a bug that causes low settings to actually produce worse FPS than high settings. With the shadows disabled, you can actually play better on high settings than low.

    -_-

So in my own instance during a quest my FPS went from 30-80! The world i'm usually at 30-50 which on low I ran 25-30. Weird!!!

When your FPS drops, make sure it's not the shader bug where it reverts to 3.0 from 2.0.

    This worked wonders for me.

    Bump for the stuiped haters.

See you wankers!  You get better graphics AND better FPS.  No other MMO can claim that.

And while I'm at it, for something this pretty to have decent FPS on high settings on a rig that is 5-6 years old (yes, a pentium 4 is 5-6 years old, get a new computer), is amazing.

AoC worked fine for me in beta(Beta worked 100% fine), When i got my free copy and instelled it (took 4 hours, tryed 3 other dvd drives i had laying around, and my dual layer burner)The game ran like crap in all settings then after instelling it it pretty much broke my PC,Before i instelled My CPU/ram would never be past 1-3%.

After i instelled it my pc would always be stuck at around 65-78% then spike to 96-100% when doing stuff like moving the mouse, browsing the internet, play any game that ran fine before AoC.

Made my PC unuseable and no game was able to be played had to reformat saddly

To bad i have a account sitting there with like 26 days left on it lol

    Playing: Everthing
    Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW.
I have played every MMO that has ever come out.

I got Pentium 4 3ghz, 2 old ddr 1gb sticks and a budget ATI Radeon 2600HD card so i am very happy that i can play this like this as all i wanted was at least 16-18fps on low settings to begin with....

Thanks Ive just tried this and the game now looks amazing, and for some reason runs better lol

I should reinstell but i don't wanna risk reformatting my PC again lol.

what sucks even more about is 3 weeks before getting AoC i just formatted it.

I had great results with this after reading it on several forums. Clikc "high" apply. turn off shadows and grass. apply. Has worked great for me. i got a 10-20fps boost and better graphics!
