I also want to point out that many of the issues being fixed and polished in the game at the moment were not present, or not discovered in closed beta. There are umpteen different PC configurations. It is simply not possible to account for all of them with a piece of code this large. Also, players tend to do things that are unexpected (like finding exploits), so it takes a measure of time to account for, and find solutions to these things.
just because they shipped 400k boxes does not mean they have 400K subscribers. I have one of those 400K boxes sitting on my desk right now but if the ever want to see more than whatever few dollars they make off box sales they better get off their can. Vanguard shipped a lot of boxes also and all the fanbois kept swearing that the game would be fixed and look at the population on their servers now. If Funcom does not watch it their server will have 400 K tumble weeds instead of subscribers.
On the different PC's argument , Cryptic managed to get it right, so did Turbine and even old SOE naile dit pretty much with EQII. Last time I bought a game with this many bugs and crashes was ....ummm Horizons. Oh yeah that was another one the fans kept telling me to just wait and it will be fixed.
or let the people who actually play it discuss game mechanics, feat builds, combat tactics, quest solutions, etc, without EVERY FRIGGIN THREAD being turned into a flame-fest by some damn troll who just can't go post in the forums pertaining to whatever game they DO enjoy.
To add on to this I had to reply to the "Traders Fixed" thread in order to put it on the first page again. Another informative thread was already buried to the 3rd page.
Perhaps if the debate threads are dominating over the informative so much for a new game they need to make sub-forums/stickied threads akin to what they did for the SOE games. They could change things later if things died down I suppose.
Debate would still be encouraged but at least information would be more reachable for those of us who haven't registered official AoC forum accounts. Till they enable reading for everyone again over there.
