lets talk about AoC

OK i am so sick of people bashing AoC, it is not a real MMo it' s this and that how about you talk about why it was made the way it is? why bash somthing that is made the way it is couse that is what most MMO players want ??

is it the best MMO NO is it a sand box mmo NO will it be the best game ever made NO but why >>?<<

well let me tell you, when MMO came out they were hard you had to "Work" on you character to make him the way you wanted, you had to read and learn the game to get the best out of it right ? remember EQ? remember looking at the spell book to med and getting killed, couse you could not see what was going on ? remember the time it took to run to queenos from freeport to get a bard spell then looking online to see that it was not there but at that elf tree house town ? well guess what the time of real MMO RPG are dead no one wants to do that anymore ! they want a arcade RPG now they want it all in  5 days of play time, so lets just bash Funcom for making a game that is what people want, do i like the way MMO games are made today hell no i want games that make me fix my gear befor it decays to nothing, but that game will never be made couse "THEY" don't want them anymore, so till the day you can make your own game stop bashing games made for the masses couse you wish it was like the good old days.

hell, i play what they give me like the rest of you, and i can't change anything and you are fooling your self,if you think you can change anything by comming here and crying about it, look what they did to SWG i mean come on, if the year and years of us bitching on there forum has done NOTHING TO ChANGE ANYTHING!!

and yes befor you bash my grammer or spelling well guess what if it was not for EQ i would not be able to spell so ha ha you made fun of some one who does his best good for you hope your happy

    You seem upset....

Some people bash a game because they're bored at their dead end job and jump on the internet to 'pretend' to be relevant by being the mighty 'Anonymous Troll poster"! Others just simply enjoy watching people respond to their idiot posts and play devil's advocate even though they have no real idea what they're talking about.

You also have people from other games who feel that their game is the best and feel it's their duty to bash, name call and demean anyone who plays it because they are obviously inferior. This group of people actually the most common nowadays which is sad.

i totaly understand what you mean. i just think it's sad that the forums here have truned into a grade school shouting match and that i even toss out a few insults here and there to people. i want to say i am sorry about that here and now and will try to keep it "civil' hahah

God help me for being a devil's advocate for the naysayers on this game buuuuut..

Look, I like AoC. A lot. I plan to keep paying after my 30 days, and knowing how cheap I am that says quite a bit. But it's not the best MMO out. It's the prettiest and the newest, but it does have a lot of glaring flaws. It does, however, have the potential to be AMONG the best, if they get those flaws corrected in time. It will not kill WoW, or CoX or even EQ2. But it will attract a lot of people looking for something different.

People are just lucky these boards aren't moderated like official boards such as the bio boards of Bioware.  Over there they certainly don't allow duplicate threads, are vigilant about players reading expectations, and the level for potential of arguments.  No arguments being allowed in fact.

People might want to think of that the next time all these debate threads pop up snuffing out chances for informative threads like the traders coming up, wireless settings to fight high ping, and system advice.

Debating is okay but players need a break once in awhile.  One thread for the day would be appropriate but not multiple threads.

True, but more people want things easy than hard. Ergo why WoW has been so successful.

And I can't say it's a bad thing. I kinda miss the old rep/alignemt grinds in EQ, and scribing spells, and the feeling of size you got when you realized it took HOURS to walk between two major points. But at the same time, those things are a pain in the butt!

if you think i want a easy game to play well you are wrong i want a game that gives me a chalange!

i was just saying this is what most older working gamers want, and what parents of Kids playing games want, they don't want to sit for 8 hours a day playing a game, they want 30 min fast give me all i want games, do i like that hell no, but i don't make games and will never make one. The only way that games would be made for "Hard core" MMORPG would be to make the "industry" see there is a market for games like that but, the way things are going the games that will come out will be fast and easy.. sad but true

I want to think that 5 of every 100 WOW players would enjoy a well done realistic game like classic EQ was, just with better graphics and a more solid quest system (not the quest grinding we have now either) and please getting rid of the static group waiting for the puller.

That would be half a milion players, more than enough. Some companies are trying that , I hope they manage. They only need investors to realize that a hardcore game can work. But inverstors are very carefull with their money, and this is only normal, nowadays it's a huge amount of money they have to dump into the uncertain.
