Couldn't really think of a good title, so I'll elabourate here. It's one of my best friend's birthday in a couple of days. She's an avid trumpet+cornet player, holding principle seat in the 4 largest local orchestras/wind bands. I've always tried to expand her view of trumpet as more than just a jazz/classical instrument, into all genres. I've heard awesome trumpet playing in such a huge variety of genres, but most of those songs I've lost or didn't ever take down the name of.
What I'm trying to do is make her a CD of loads of songs with really good brass/trumpet solos or accompaniments that AREN'T jazz or classical. I've got a couple of funk songs already on there, as well as the 'Chelsea' from Counting Crow's 'Across a Wire' CD, and some tracks off Dave Matthews Band's 'Fenway Park' album ('Crush' in particular has the most fantastic soloing towards the end). If you take nothing else from this thread, go and listen to those two songs. They're amazing.
But obviously 4 songs doesn't comprise a CD, so I'm hoping some of you might have some songs kicking about in the back of your minds somewhere that fit the description? I can probably lay my hands on just about any song, so don't worry about that, I just need names.
Can you help?
Thanks,
Khuzarrz

Well, every Ska/Punk-Ska will make plenty of use of a trumpet.... You may try to listen to Reel Big Fish, they're pretty cool

As stated, pretty much any ska band.
As an alternative, Sonic Boom Six, a band from somewheres in the UK is an awesome Reggae/Punk/Ska/Hip-Hop combo with some pretty sweet horn action in a lot of their songs.
Fishbone
Freddy's Fat Drop
to name a few
