I hate Warhammer Online [rant]

I already hate Warhammer Online and I've never even played it.
The reason why? It's because EVERYONE keeps thinking it's the second coming. People dismiss Age of Conan just because it's not a "WoW-Killer" or because they think Warhammer is going to be sooo much better. Guess what? I already killed WoW by not playing it anymore. Dead to me. As for Warhammer well let's just say I'm not holding my breath.
Even my friends who are playing Age of Conan right now are starting to really annoy me because all I hear is "I can't wait until Warhammer is out... I'm not sure if I want to INVEST in the time playing Age of Conan because Warhammer will be out soon." This line irks me the most.. Yes I understand investment in a game and that's part of the allure of playing in a pay to play type MMO. You spend money and time investing in a character and you don't just want that wasted. But seriously, do you really think that way when you by a single player game? You buy it, play it and then never look at it again. Does that make the any fun I had worth any less?
I'm sorry to tell you people who keep raving about games that aren't even out yet, but how about we try LIVING in the present and enjoy what we have RIGHT NOW. Sure it's something to look forward to, but let's face it, they aren't going to release Warhammer any time soon.
There is SOOO much hype right now for Warhammer it's not even funny and you know what happens when something is overhyped. Yep, it usually never lives up to expectations.
Am I looking forward to Warhammer? Sure, it's on my list. But I'm playing Age of Conan right now and it's FUN.
Yes, that's right, Age of Conan is FUN! Remember when we played games because they were FUN?!?
All I see these days is people rushing to max level and then complaining there's nothing to do.. What's the point of having levels then? At least for me it's just fun running around killing things.. Is it a grind? Perhaps, but when you're having fun doing it it's not really a grind then is it?
I keep wondering about those people complaining about reputation grinds and asking why are you doing it then? For the end result? For me if it's never fun getting to the end there's no point.
I'm only level 51 right now but I don't think decapitation will ever get old. I'm not sure how anyone can go back to the old mmo style combat after this..
I can't even understand how people just dismiss the combat as simple button mashing. Yes I know that after a while you get into a rhythm and it seems like you're just pushing a certain pattern, but it's not always the same pattern. You actually have to pay attention if you want to be efficient. Yes, you could certainly level to 80 just hitting 1 button, but I think that's more a mental problem than anything else and I'd rather not play with those people anyway.
I'm not delusional, I know there are problems with Age of Conan. You've all read about them so I won't list them. But there is still alot of FUN to be had in the game. Enjoy it for what you can.

Why do you care so much? If you enjoy playing AoC go play it and ignore the haters.
WAR? pffft. If I see another damn orc I'll projectile vomit.
I honetly could care less about WAR...the sooner it comes out, the better, as the people who don't like AoC will bugger off and leave us that do in peace.
So OP, basically what you are saying is that... so that you do not have to hear it anymore, You can not wait til WarHammer comes out?

AoC was overhyped pre OB but after the issues it fell of the radar for couple weeks but overall both games were equally hyped with AoC having slightly large following thanks to Tities. I see both AoC and War as 3.5th generation of MMOs rather than 4th generation, both introduce some new aspects but they still stick with aspects from previous MMOs.
War biggest drawback is its graphics and gameplay and AoC biggest issue is the instancing and lack of variety which will turn off lot of people plus the pointless FFA pvp hopefully they can address that with sieges only time will tell.
Things that I hate about is MMO is people that think its more than just a game.

Why bash on WAR?
It is great you have fun in AoC, but for many there is either one (or both) of two main problems:
1. Tons of bugs and problems with customer service.
2. Lack of endgame content, problems with too few quests, things to do at level 40+. Sieges not in. Player cities tier 2+3 not in, crafting not 100% or doesnt make sense. General design flaws.
The game is easy to level and there is little to do. They inconveniently placed the player cities and keeps in instances. No reason to visit those.
The game has serious problems. That said there are redeeming aspects. Things that make it fun for a little while. But I doubt Funcom has the ressources to fix all this in a month, so I am afraid people will leave in droves!
The only question remains: Will Funcom have the money to keep developing this game after the first month or will it be on the backburner with a skeleton crew? It remains to be seen. And I have no definitive answer!

If I play either, it will be in the xbox... but 3 years of WoW has made tired of fantasy mmo's. When I get out of this hotel and get an appt with a decent internet connection I think I may go back to EVE, not for the combat, but for the crafting... When EVE came out 4 years ago, I played it then, you know when you make things people will want them, even if it's just consumables like bullets or missiles... they get bought and you make a profit... when Stagate World comes out I'll play that, it's probably the only MMO that I know the lore and I love the movie and both series...
You care too much. Seriously. Play your game and let WAR fans have theirs. If you can't deal with the hype, you obviously missed out on how much hype AoC got. And is still getting actually, since probably at least 80% of people are like you...they think its fun. And to warg0ul, why not have fun killing the orcs if you dont like them? Do some vomit attack when they're close, then while they're disoriented, BAM!

Isn't it a good thing that MMO developers create different games? What might not appeal to one person, will appeal to another.

anyway even tho the rant of the OP is a tad wierd he has some good points.. the thing is that why is it always someone who has to rant about how bad another game is because they didn't like it?? I mean most people like to play game differently I could go on about games I disliked a lot but I moved on I play what the OP is actually trying to point out which is the most fun.
We're all different and have different ways to see things and when it comes to games it's the same some like WoW, some like EVE, some like AoC and some even like Tetris not a mmo tho but could eb fun having a huge tetris with tousands of players messing up.. :P .. it's the fun part which makes us play.
the thing I still cannot understand it's the people's urge to try to convince the whole world that if they think a game sucks everyone else should think it too.
I've given lots of WoW players pepper mostly because they're not even thinking the thought that people might like other games than them... I mean if I for a 2nd thought WoW was wow.. I would still be playing but it wasn't.
New games will always come out and there will always be people nagging about how bad the game is.
but hating WAR because it's not released yet it's a bit silly. I wonder which mmo is good for my taste there is just too many to cover I will never be able to play them all.
I've played dozens but there is tousands of different mmo's and some claim to have tried most of them.. well I'm not in a habit claiming people to lie but I will make an exception and say it to them.. you're full of bull when you claim to have tried what's out there. You've merely peeked at the top of the iceberg.
You won't even if you lived several life times be able to get full value playing all. You just have to pick the ones you like the most and if it's bad then uninstall it and try a new until you find the one you enjoy playing don't bother to suffer yourself through a game you don't like and if you don't like it the best remedy is to forget about it.
So a reminder to everyone we play games because we want to have some fun or well I like to believe that that's the reason people play games but then again I might be wrong.
This rant really isn't helping these forums.
AoC might be an average game, but compared to the hype it had is a big failure, and it's only normal it gets bashed a bit more than it deserves now.
And your friends are right, it's not worth investing too much when the next big thing is WAR, or so it looks. And it's not only the time, there is also the computer upgrades. Better do do a cheaper upgrade for WAR because 1) it will be less demanding 2) we will get better stuff for same money in the future or same for less money.
