I totally agree with you, you have every right to be confused. You see one of the above posters is just commenting on hear say as they have tech issues and havent even loaded the game up. So what you get is chinese whispers.

My  journal is always full of quests too, there is plenty to do and see, its all out there just needs to be found.

More voice overs will come with the expansion, but it was never intended to have alot of them after tortage.

No DrowNoble and Avery, there is no confusion. Dont get me wrong, i do think AoC right now is ok for what it is. But you cant advertise the game to a mass market. The game has 0 gameplay for such a market. The vast majority of this market wants to log in and do something for 1-3 hours.

Harvesting is the most boring thing i have ever seen in a game. Its build for a hardcore-ish PvP/siege crowd. The average player doesnt want to run around for 2 hours just for 3 cotton, 8 rough leather and a few copper and sandstone. On a bad day its even less. Its not even enough to craft boots for a crafter quest. The average player wants to seen some progress at what he is doing. Its to late now, many buildings are growing and funcom would have a hard time  balancing those issues.

The game has no i-win class. The mass market needs such a class like an EQ2 conjurer or a WoW hunter. Just a class that lets players get things done without dying to often. So many players grind in AoC to level and be able to do the quests. Ofc those people post that there are not enough quests.

People with one to five static friends do expereince the game in a very different way. A much better way. But the average mass doesnt have them, because they cant comit playtime regular. They play when they have the time. Since the game has no sideshow those people cant do anything else and get bored very fast.

I think part of the problem is that people got used to "easy mode" with WoW.

If I only have 1-2 hours to play I can do things in AoC.  Many times quest goals overlap other quest goals so I can be in 1 area and working on multiple quests.  This game is, by far, NOT like EQ1 where you virtually needed a group to do anything at high levels and it took sometimes 40+ mins to get where you wanted to go.

The fact there is no I Win class is a good thing!  Though some may argue that a PoM isn't far from being one.  As far as the dying too often that really depends on the player as the classes in AoC don't work like people expect them too.  My ToS (priest class) can solo multiple mobs 2-3 levels higher than him easily using a combo of AoE nukes, roots and heals.  This is a far cry from other games priests who are typically squishy and heal biznitches.

Like any MMO things get easier if you group up.  You could solo if you want but certain group quests you'd have to wait til you leveled up some and the quest went green.  Too many people are concerend about getting to 80 asap, just relax and enjoy the content as it comes to you.

  • People didn't start bashing Vanguard until like 2 weeks to a month into the game when it was blatantly obvious that it was a piece of shit. The first week I remember a lot of people saying it was good and how they liked the additional complexity of the combat and other nonsense.

I like all the people who are only level like 30 claiming AoC is the savior to MMOs when they haven't even experienced the end game yet. If you started a toon in EQ2 and leveled to 30 I'm sure you'd say it's "fucking amazing", too. Get to max level, raid a few raids, do the heroic shit, and then your comments about how amazing AoC is might hold a little weight.
