$250 to Spend on a New Video Card...

monkeyspymonkeyspy Member Posts: 196

I was looking to buy a new video card for my PC so I was looking to get some recommendations.  Here are a few cards I was looking at:

  • Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR4
  • nVidia e-GeForce 8800GT 512MB DDR3
  • Radeon HD 3650 1GB GDDR3
  • eVGA GeForce 8800GT 1GB GDDR3

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

By the the end of this month the next gen from ATI (hd4870) and Nvidia (gtx280) should be out. us$200 to 600; pcie2. gt200

Older gpu, in the us$200 range few beat the 512MB gf8800gts.

    2 weeks ago i picked up a BFG geforce 8800 GT OC2(overclocked).

unfortunately it has a a defect so my new one should be here this week. when it was working, it was very nice.

i asked the same question you did, OP, on the AOC forums before purchasing. most posters lead me to this card with price and performance in mind. i was unwilling to buy any new cards due to inflated prices and lessons learned. you can get this card for under $200 or about there.
