I'm one of those gamers who want to see how the chips fall first.
AoC seems like a very interesting game; it may or may not be my taste. Either way, I'm looking forward to trying it for a few months. And you're right, there's no need to bash a game. When people subscribe or cancel their subscriptions,...that's a larger statement to the company than any single trolling post.
I'll probably wait near the end of the year to play it. By then, I'll need lots of immersion in a fantasy world to forgot who the president is...

i dont read mmorpg forums for other games on release (besides potbs) but i do know that when i've played games i felt i got burned out of my money on (like potbs) i didnt come here and say that, if i said anything at all about how i didnt like it, i was specific and made sure everyone knew it was my view and knew how little i played before i tossed it, and i never started my own thread about it i always replied in someone elses, but made sure to finish with 'but thats just me' lol

Do your own research aka play the game and not rely on a hunch from many that don't spend the time to play and formulate an unbiased opinion.
I suppose you didn't think that the new people with say 3 or 4 posts are actually people who did what you just suggested? They played the game for a fair enough amount of time, listed postiives, listed negatives, and said FOR THEM the negatives were too much and they're cancelling. But I guess those are the people you're targetting lol.

A. you have an opinion, (as well as everyone else in the world), and you should not share your opinion because it will be different from someone elses opinion? That opinions should only be shared if they agree with the greater majority of opinions on a subject?

B. every thought, idea, perception that everyone has is opinion, as opposed to let's say fact, and as such, should not posted on a forum? In other words, no opinions allowed in a forum... only fact... and hence there should be no negative posts because they are opinions... or something like that?

You missed the point of my post. All the negative posts that I've read are from frustrations that have a solution and can be solved through patches, rig upgrade, joining a good guild ect...
Patches will come as they are very frequently. Unhappy with something in the game... a post in bugs forum section( at AOC's website) does more good than complaining on mmorpg general ones.
Your QQ tears are mighty tasty, but, unfortunately you have said nothing that is going to motivate me to go out and buy AOC or play it, or spend money every month on it's sub.
Simple fact is that AOC at this point is a pay to play beta and that just won't cut it. I've been burned at least 2-3 times in the past year alone by the "next big mmo" that turns out to be a buggy POS beta that companies force on people via marketing and hype to make a few bucks before reality sets in.
Enjoy the game, good for you, etc. However, you've said nothing that makes me say OOOHHH I gotta play this.

C. opinions should be dealt with in the optimal manner only. If some action such as upgrading your machine, joining a guild, waiting for a patch, or making a post to the AoC bug boards is more productive than making a post to the mmorpg forums, then that is what one should do and that only.

I suppose I have more problems with option C than A or B. Optimality is yet just another opinion, unless you could prove it in some experimental way. And there is your implied requirement that only the optimal actions should be done. What if there is more than one goal obtained with any given action? For example, the negative posts, as well as the positive posts, are all summed together to give an overall impression that is read by others, and that impression is used to determine purchase? Perhaps the only goal is not just the improvement of the game, there could be additional ones as well. And I can't imagine mmorpg staff agreeing with C either.... they want people here, (seeing those ads scattered around the pages), not somewhere else

actually my friend the newbie area is marvelous. you know why? because FC polished it enough so that the game can achieve positive critisism combined with not lifted nda so evryone can read "it is a great game", but the problem is that it is a half finished great game, and the greater problem is that FC lied to us , its customers about many things.

Almost every one here complaining is totally ignorant or is extremely un appreciative. Everyone was so hyped up about this game, and they were going to play it all the time and have lots of fun, and stick with it ....blah blah blah blah blah. Though when the game comes out and has a rough time with some technical issues, and doesn't have everything there little heart desired..they freak and say that this company sucks and all this bull. I've got news for some of you. You say they should have waited longer to release? THEY COULDN'T!!! If you didnt know....every time they pushed back the game there stocks would shoot down. If they woudl have pushed it back again than they would be on the verge of having to quit the whole project all together. They needed money to finish it...so yes they used us for money. We are kinda paying for a beta still, but thats just the way it is. Lots of mmos are not very good when they first release, but it gets better. This is one of the good launches. Besides the bad optimization and some issues with shadowing...the game is very fun. If it's not for your...then fine...no problem there. You can just leave your comments, and leave. Don't bash the game, compnay and anyone who likes it. You all say "OMG this is just guild wars 2" well....ever thought that Guild Wars has 5 million players...and that a lot of people actually really enjoy guild wars? This game is more like GW than WOW and they should have set up their payment scale like GW instead of WOW. This game now is basically D&D online and you can see what kind of success they are having with their GW style game and real MMO monthly fees.
The newness of AOC is going to wear off very soon. Funcom better have an amazing expansion lined up within the first 6 months otherwise AOC is on the expressway to failure.

They should atleast amend their promises instead of launching with things missing that were said to have been in the game for weeks. Like DX10 they kept swearing DX10 is there for launch barely a day maybe 2 days after the Launch "Oh there's no DX10" thats a LIE ..a cheat...a bait and switch.
If you promise something then it should be there...if you know it can't be there than be man enough to say "it won't be in but its coming in a patch" thats called good customer relations & communication somethign Funcom lacks every so often.
btw Funcom launched AoC a year and a half to 2 years late and it was due to money...they didnt' have a choice but to launch when they did. The game was in development for nearly 5 years...and it does show because the graphics are stunning and the combat system is from what people say rather good. But there were promises made ... and they KNEW ... they knew atleast 2 to 3 weeks before launch what wouldn't be in the game and they never said a peep because they knew it would piss off the community.

I really dont know what kind of Magic Funcom can use to actually improve the game anytime soon , and when I mean improve the game I am not talking about all the bugs , but the content , they need some content to keep poeple playing or they will get bored and move on and most of them will probably not even come back anyday.

DirectX10 NEVER made it into beta. There never were the proper executables nor the proper .dll's in place. Sure you could tick it in the options but it did NOTHING, and from what I have heard that tick box was available at release but caused so much confusion amongst the populace that they recently removed it. And if you actually had been in the beta you would know this.
The DX10 bit was an example but to be honest its a huge lie and a cheat and a bait and switch, though its neglible to what they could of done. In all honesty they hyped themseves as this big DX10 game and its so awsome because its DX10 and thats what drew alot of people in....but it was not presented. Thats not an encouraging sign for communication. If they hype something and hype something and hype something and then change their minds or change when its going to be in they shoudl tell the consumer. Thats like saying yea we're a PvP game and then not telling anyone that PvP is turned off for X months. While obviously the PvP example is a far more extreme case its still the same tactic of with holding the truth and Over hyping & promising. Its NOT good customer relations at all.
just to clarify I'm not saying AoC is a bad game...I'm saying Funcom has an issue with telling the whole truth or atleast keeping their hyping goals realistic. AoC has the potential to be perhaps one of the greatest hardcore games the community has seen in a very long time.

THANK YOU OP!!! I was just about to post a thread just like this one, but you did it instead. I thank you for actually making an intelligent and appreciative post. Almost every one here complaining is totally ignorant or is extremely un appreciative. Everyone was so hyped up about this game, and they were going to play it all the time and have lots of fun, and stick with it ....blah blah blah blah blah. Though when the game comes out and has a rough time with some technical issues, and doesn't have everything there little heart desired..they freak and say that this company sucks and all this bull. I've got news for some of you. You say they should have waited longer to release? THEY COULDN'T!!! If you didnt know....every time they pushed back the game there stocks would shoot down. If they woudl have pushed it back again than they would be on the verge of having to quit the whole project all together. They needed money to finish it...so yes they used us for money. We are kinda paying for a beta still, but thats just the way it is. Lots of mmos are not very good when they first release, but it gets better. This is one of the good launches. Besides the bad optimization and some issues with shadowing...the game is very fun. If it's not for your...then fine...no problem there. You can just leave your comments, and leave. Don't bash the game, compnay and anyone who likes it. You all say "OMG this is just guild wars 2" well....ever thought that Guild Wars has 5 million players...and that a lot of people actually really enjoy guild wars? I would bet anything that by christmas this game will be hands down the best mmo on the market. Oh, and don't post that after level 50 crap, because I have lots of friends that are level 80, and there are plenty of quests. Leave your area, and go to other ones...there are loads of quests. There even updating us on the information that there adding. There adding new quests for late 30's and 50's. They are adding so much stuff, and they have fixed SOOO much stuff. If you don't think there progressing at all then your an idiot.....if your going to troll and bash this game then your probably only 12 and are mad that it's not perfect and doesnt have everything you hoped for. WOW, get over it. Play it for what it is, and have fun. Games are meant to have fun...not to critisize and say how much better it COULD have been.
This game is more like GW than WOW and they should have set up their payment scale like GW instead of WOW. This game now is basically D&D online and you can see what kind of success they are having with their GW style game and real MMO monthly fees.
The newness of AOC is going to wear off very soon. Funcom better have an amazing expansion lined up within the first 6 months otherwise AOC is on the expressway to failure.

they did lie/mislead about things but that still doesn't take out any truth of the OP. the graphics, combat and sound are easily the best done in ANY mmo.

ppl like you are Funcom's target. you pay for empty promises and when u dont get what was promised you just say "oh...crap, at least they will patch it someday" and shit like "oh..crap, thats the way it is" and "oh...crap, they buttfucked us but no problem the graphics are nice"...

btw i paid for AoC now, May not December. At least other games in development grew balls to repeatedly push back the launch date in order to sell a PRODUCT, not a piece of dung!

Then yo tell me....what were they supposed to do? HMMM????? Just hold off the game to have all the stuff in there, but oh wait...then they would have to stop the product because they RAN OUT OF MONEY!!! Then they wouldn't even have a game3 to try and make good. Who would be dissapointed then? I think everyone would have agreed with me and said that they should have just released it instead of just killing the game totally because of a few bugs and some content issues, and if you werent expecting bugs and issues with a newly released game when you bought it then you just an ignorant fool.
They should atleast amend their promises instead of launching with things missing that were said to have been in the game for weeks. Like DX10 they kept swearing DX10 is there for launch barely a day maybe 2 days after the Launch "Oh there's no DX10" thats a LIE ..a cheat...a bait and switch.
If you promise something then it should be there...if you know it can't be there than be man enough to say "it won't be in but its coming in a patch" thats called good customer relations & communication somethign Funcom lacks every so often.
btw Funcom launched AoC a year and a half to 2 years late and it was due to money...they didnt' have a choice but to launch when they did. The game was in development for nearly 5 years...and it does show because the graphics are stunning and the combat system is from what people say rather good. But there were promises made ... and they KNEW ... they knew atleast 2 to 3 weeks before launch what wouldn't be in the game and they never said a peep because they knew it would piss off the community.

I really dont know what kind of Magic Funcom can use to actually improve the game anytime soon , and when I mean improve the game I am not talking about all the bugs , but the content , they need some content to keep poeple playing or they will get bored and move on and most of them will probably not even come back anyday.
Lol i think its pretty damn funny about how unfinished the game was.

I just don't see anything that people are so dissappointed with. Unless your that upset with dx10....and if thats it wow. Yes, they did say that it was going to be in and it wasn't, but what's so great about dx10. Looks better then dx9, but I don't think it looks that much better. I was in beta, and it was in beta, and it wasn't that much better looking.
DirectX10 NEVER made it into beta. There never were the proper executables nor the proper .dll's in place. Sure you could tick it in the options but it did NOTHING, and from what I have heard that tick box was available at release but caused so much confusion amongst the populace that they recently removed it. And if you actually had been in the beta you would know this.

The DX10 bit was an example but to be honest its a huge lie and a cheat and a bait and switch, though its neglible to what they could of done. In all honesty they hyped themseves as this big DX10 game and its so awsome because its DX10 and thats what drew alot of people in....but it was not presented. Thats not an encouraging sign for communication. If they hype something and hype something and hype something and then change their minds or change when its going to be in they shoudl tell the consumer. Thats like saying yea we're a PvP game and then not telling anyone that PvP is turned off for X months. While obviously the PvP example is a far more extreme case its still the same tactic of with holding the truth and Over hyping & promising. Its NOT good customer relations at all.
just to clarify I'm not saying AoC is a bad game...I'm saying Funcom has an issue with telling the whole truth or atleast keeping their hyping goals realistic. AoC has the potential to be perhaps one of the greatest hardcore games the community has seen in a very long time.

Other wise any post constructive or not looks bad/good for a person not wanting to waste money on a game that might fail miserably.
