Women WoW Player's and Their Motivations???

Hey WoW Players,

I too am a WoW player and I am looking for OTHER WOMEN World of Warcraft Players.

I am doing this undergraduate research project and have had 50 males take my survey, yet ONLY 8 FEMALES!!!

This is pretty depressing...where are all the WoW players that are women?

If you are out there and read this...will you take my survey. I am in desperate need of women to take it.

Well, you're running at about a 16% ratio of women to men, which isn't that far off the real in-game ratio of women to men I'm thinking.  Contrast that to EVE's under 5% women and I'd say you are doing pretty well so far.

Your bigger issue is that the ratio of  WOW players (male or female) who post on forums like this one vs those that don't is probably like under a half percent.  Add in the strong "I hate WOW" factor this particular forum has and your chances of getting lots of replies diminishes further.

i dont think there are too many girls who play WoW or any mmorpgs for that matter... i'd say about 85% of all female characters in WoW are guys who were getting tired of playing male characters or dislike how a certain gender of a certain race looks like... but anyways... i doubt you'll find too many women playing WoW.... you have to look at the statistics... not too many girls play mmorpgs, or any video games for that matter... the ones who do... that's the type of girl im looking for... a girl who loves video games  ^_^

Actually a lot of the women who play WoW, play male characters...for some of the same reasons that guys play female characters.

Theres more women playing mmo's than most people think, most of us would rather play with our husbands or boyfriends though because when most dudes in mmo's find out your a single female....well lets just say for the most part it's not much fun!  Not all men are retarded about it....but they are rare.  Even when I was a single gal playing mmo's I usually told people I was married when they heard a female voice on teamspeak and if I didn't have to talk on teamspeak I claimed to be male if it came up.

Most of the dudes in mmo's are asking for perverted things like naked pictures and other degrading stuff.  No girl wants to deal with pervs so we say we are guys or claim to be married or something else.

wow... thats rough.... i dont even use teamspeak... i dont even know how to use teamspeak now that i think of it... lol.... anyways... that's a pretty smart plan

I find that it's not an issue for many of the women that I play with although I do run with a more "mature" crowd usually.  I know a lot of married couples that play and a few single women too.  We still make stupid comments about naked pictures or whatever, but everyone knows it's only in jest and most of the woman play along and have fun with it.  It's not like we are going to be looking thru their bedroom window, we have no idea who they really are or where they live.  Heck most of us are married ourselves and would catch hell from the better half if we really did get pictures, so please, no pictures.

I did state that all men are not this way, and I do have a crowd I usually hang around that knows Im female and married and we joke have a good time.  Being guild leadership I have had female gamers complain to me about male players...again NOT ALL but sadly too many.  I think most mature people can tell when people are joking...I usually could.  Im just stating how when I was single and joined new guilds...if the question came up early on...I lied because of past experiences...that were not at all jokes.  I had make new characters because of some past jerks.  Again I cannot over state that NOT ALL GUYS do this.

that's about the right ratio.  we have 90-100 in our guild and only 6 are females (mostly wifes/gf's of the guys that play)

Mm, when I played WoW, my guild was probably 60:40 Male:Female. And that seemed to pretty common, I dunno though, could've just been my play time or my server, but I know that a much greater percentage of people I played with were female.

Again, this is probably because I seek out like minded players, and I guess female gamers tend to have a playstyle very reminicent of each other.
