I wonder if this is supposed to be sarcastic.

Why do you love funcom?  Because the testers said that the content was missing/broken etc and Funcom replied that it wasn't, that it was all complete internally and waiting for release?  Yet, here we are in release with a supposed plan of having this stuff fixed sometime in the summer.  What summer by chance?  Could be 2012 before they get around to fixing this stuff, most of the bugs have been present for months now and are still not addressed, but then again I must just be a complainer no?

What more can I ask for?  simple let me put it in big capital letters for you to better understand:

TO HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES, ALL OF WHICH FUNCOM HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR MONTHS,  ADDRESSED BEFORE RELEASING AN INCOMPLETE AND BUGGY GAME TO THE PUBLIC.

Actually these forums have helped me more than any other forums online.  You must wade thru the jungle of trolls, bullsh1t, etc.   But, at the end of the path lies some degree of truth.

Myself, I view the opinions expressed here accordingly... with a grain of salt.   Doesn't mean that every post of this forum is garbage.  Becasue, not all of them are.

My advise is to go back to you comfortable, policed, lock&key AOC forums and stroke each other there.

yeah, in the meantime I will be playing other stuff while they fix and add what was supposed to be included in the game. Pretty much 6 months down the road.

And there is nothing for Sieges? What's the status of it?

Too bad so many people have quit the game in disgust already.

Well, I for one am cheered.

Of course we can only take these promises at face value, but FC is usually good about keeping their word ocne they've made it regarding game fixes. I payed Anarchy Online for years; I can recall worse problems than AOC ever had, months or even a year outside of release. THERE was a game that was nearly unplayable even a year after release. Unplayable as in it crashed constantly, two or three classes were broken to the degree they could not play at all (Fixers, Metas, and Engis, for instance), and memory leaks froze the game to a crawl for everyone, even people with (then) high-end PCs.

AoC, on the other hand, is a good bit less crashy. There are bigs, but few of them completely prevent someone from playing, and those few tend to be on an individual basis (rather than affect hundreds of players). The game can lag, but plenty of people still can play, even on not-quite-uber machines. It's by no means perfect, but nowhere near as flawed as other releases I've seen.

Anyway...some of the propsed changes are heartening. It shows that they're listening; or at least indicating that they might be. No garauntees on whether they actually follow through, but I'm hopeful.

I find it disturbing that the officiel pow is that the game, after launch, isnt finished. Per default, they have shipped a frame where the fillings will be added step by step, with no sat dates.

If this is how companys will marketing MMO`s in the future, they really have to change som things. They need to state - clearly, before release, that you are buying a ~50% finished game. You shouldnt pay full price. You should not pay full monthly fee before the game are finish. With the exploding market for mmo`s we might see really shitty releases when companys desparetly trying to be the first to fill out gaps and sit on the sale...

There should be a clear ruleset and definetion on when a game is finished.  Patches should be for bugfixes not for downloading half of the game piece by piece, month after month.... And again, label the game "unfinished" if thats the case.

AOC is what it is, personally I like the game, but others may not.  Sure it has problems we all know it would.  It comes down to a pretty simple solution.  Either pay them and play the game, stop paying them and just download and keep up with patches and play something else in the meantime.  Or you can just quit it uninstall and say well 50 bucks was the most expensive beta I have ever played.  Eitherway you guys need to stop bashing the game and make one of those choices.  Because seriously?  This bashing has been going on for almost a month now straight and its pointless.

Gamers are getting more and more skilled at blowing through content (gorge gorge gorge <snort> <gargle> gorge gorge gorge "blaaaah" gorge gorge gorge... 120 hours + 6 for sleep and 3 layers of pizza hair later... "This sucks!").

When WoW was released they were making tons of big adjustments for months afterwards and it took them longer to implement semblances of many of the things that current players take for granted.  They never did get around to some things like housing...  What finished-at-release-or-even-content-rich-at-release-game are we comparing AoC to?   Are you whiners just pissed that their marketing department lied?  Lol...

AoC's world PvP is weak.  The class balance is weak (possibly salvageable but they have to work on it a lot).  Some of the annoying bugs are of the scary "I wonder if they'll ever be able to fix this" variety.  But the game has a lot of good points and has several cool moments.  And it's not like $50 is more than a tank of gas these days - I spend more on a given friday/saturday night out .  We definitely got our money's worth, even if we only play it for 50 hours and stop forever.

This wasn't a bad game release.

This type of stuff always happens when you develope a game that is class/lvl based that offers nothing but quests to advance your toon.

Kinda of funny that mmorpg's that are open sandboxed worlds never have these type of problems. The community can actually become part of the online world, not become a hampster on a wheel, chasing a stupid lvl bar.

AOC is no differant than WOW, LOTR, EQ2, and a whole lot more. Instead of making a world that you can actually feel like you are part of, FC made a instanced zoned unfinshed mess of a mmo.

Shame on FC for their laziness and their unability to bring the lore and huge world of Conan to actual life.

Calm down there buddy. I assure you if I were playing a game so incomplete and buggy that it wasn't worth subscribing to, I wouldn't subscribe to it.

Fact is though it's complete enough, and bug-free enough that I love it. It's much more complete and bug-free than I expected, especially after playing the betas.

So shh, there's no sarcasm in my glee towards these welcomed changes. I don't get why you're so doom and gloom about 'em yourself.

Also a lot of those changes are dated JUNE, as in this month. Mainly the PvE ones. The rest are supposed to come THIS summer. If they don't make it, complain then, otherwise don't show up on these forums banging on your keyboard expecting anyone to sympathize with the level of cynicism you have that'd even make you suspect it'll be 2012 'til these additions arrive.

at least its a good plan...now all they have to do is implement it

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game

I think the best response to anyone who complains about lack of content in any mmo is the little phrase on every box of every mmo:

Game Experience May Change During Online Play

Kinda hard to say they duped you when they put this on every little box.

    Cheers!

MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

This is how companies have been releasing MMOs for years, going back even before WoW.  Anyone who expects anything different is either naive or easily swayed by pre-release hype.

You are chasing an impossible dream.

Sandbox games were sandbox because they were totaly passive, it was like going to a supermarked and selecting wares on the shelf where you didnt really know what they were until you opened them and tried it.

They werent interactive. You created the world inside your own head. Well most people in the world dont find that entertaining which is why MMOs used to have such a small audience.

once again, AoC devs admit they released the game unfinished, buggy and too early, which is what a LOT of us have been saying all along.

is it a good MMO now? no, i don't think so, feels unfinished to me and gameplay is too narrow.

will it be an ok MMO 3-6 months from now? maybe

does it offer anything new to the MMO genre? no, not really.

Really now they released a letter saying tehy going to put more stuff in cause they didn't test the game really well in beta. I been thinking this but they using the free month for paying customers to help finish testing the game. Well now sounds like it most likely will take longers than the free month to add the stuff he said too. I don't see how its good news really admitting what people already knew besides saying they plan to add more content and fix broken stuff. Thats what MMO companies are suppose to do that why we pay a monthly fee. Some people seems really hyped up about this new but I for one expected they would start fixing the game add more content over new few months because thats what all MMO games does.

*sigh* for the BAZILLIONTH TIME -- that phrase, "Game Experience May Change During Online Play", refers to the parental rating system.  The game may be rated "E" for everyone offline but online it may be rated mature because some guy decided to rant about a sexual fantasy he wants to act out with a female NPC.  It is a warning to parent and has NOTHING to do with altering the game.

When there ultimately is a paradigm shift in the industry and they recognize that sandbox games are a better way to really maintain customers long term, I envision some SOE executive saying "We had this and blew it up?" ( ' :

These are good changes, ummm I didnt read the whole thread but anyone bitching, god damn... seems quite ungrateful. Their implementing changes based on player feedback... Probably a bad move on FC's part actually because all you spoilt brats take it the wrong way, as if you've been sold an unfinished product, blah blah. IDK I just noticed how detached Blizz was with wow. &^$#ers... and it really pissed me off, lots of lame chanegs. But I geuss it helped them to avoid all this BS as evidensed in this thread. Yeah seriously, why so many rowdy bastards?
