The BEST game since UO/Asherons Call!! OPPOSITE of AOC

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

This is the best game I have played in many years! I have been searching forever for a game that is so amazing!

I cant believe I even found one, I was beginning to give up on MMO's

If you are an oldschool gamer which misses games that give you freedom check this game out! If you are new-school but are tired of the WoW clones, check this out.. IF you dont want YOU DONT HAVE TO DO A SINGLE QUEST, but theres enough quests to get you to the end if you want!!

The game runs great! im a noob I will be honest but I get 30+ fps and50+ inside the HUGE AMAZING UNINSTANCED DUNGEONS!!!

I just visited my 1st dungeon.. i havent had this much fun in literally 7 years..

GET THE GAME!!!! IM SERIOUS GET IT!!!!

    I am playing on abuddy pass but I bought 2 copys of the game for me and my GF for $18 including shipping.. it wasnt the ocllectors edition.. if it comes with one I will be happy to give you it

    Stop making me want to bring my account back. Arrrg. I'd love to play again, it was a lot of fun... its just I don't trust where the game is going with BOP and removal of EE, and the general issue of making things easier. Plus riftways aren't fun... How's population? I must resist the pull! This is the ONLY good game out right now.

    i play on seradon and I see people everwhere.. i believe it is the most populated server.. so probably the best choiice.. but its in US. its not like in WoW where theres like a billion people everywhere but its fine.. the region chat is always full of people talking and LFG.. i dont know about the changes.. but im playing BM and its fun as hell.. the performance peoblems everyone has talked about forever are non existent when I play.. i dont lag.. high fps ect..

    its amazing.. i mean really.. the dungeon i just got through was huge! and i heard its one of the smallest ones... and my fps was even better inside.. we met someone randomly inside and grouped with em.. HOW AMAZING IS THAT BECAUSE IT WASNT INSTANCED.. THAT JUST DOES NOT HAPPEN ANYMORE!

    Oh I know, the dungeons are fantastic, and the classes are very well designed. I mainly left before content was taking too long to come out and it didn't seem to be going anywhere. But now that its summer and I have no games to play or anything I'm really considering coming back.

    If you do get 2 buddy keys tomorrow, and are willing to part with the other, I wouldn't mind stopping by to check things out. I may resub... :)

    yes i just started playing on a buddy key and am also amazed at how fun this game in i haven't been so pulled into a game since SWG pre cu. Me and my wife have been looking for a game we both like so we could play together again and we have finally found it just ordered up to copies of the game.

    oh and the last game the wife and i played together was SWG she is currently playing wow and I lotro but we are leaving them for Vanguard this game rocks. The classes play like i would expect them to.

    I was so scared to play the game because of performance issues i have heard about but this game plays better on my mid computer system than lotro does less hitching if you can believe that . wooooot

    its funny cuz i have less video lag than when i played on lotro also.. it was a big suprise to me

    Just bought the game for $6 off of ebay (shipping included). I've heard the combat can be semi challenging and a nearly instance free game experience is very appealing.

    Is there PvP in this game? I'm on the fence between this and Lineage 2, while I'm waiting for WAR.

    Seems like I have the same experience as many others; playing AoC only made me realise what a real mmorpg should be like - the open world concept. So, yeah, I will probably check out my lvl 30 necro in VG again.

    I usually play shadowbane when I am off LotrO, but I decided to give this game a chance. It is very immersive in world design, it feels great to be inside game world and there is very little distractions that take you out of that immersiveness.
    I won't say that is is the best game out because I feel LotrO just did everything on a level Sony and Sigil just couldn't reach. I will say that VG is way better then my experience with AoC.

     

    While I usually agree with most of your posts, I have to say that comparing LotRo to Vanguard is somewhat unfair to both of them.

    Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE both of these games and have played both of them since beta. Vanguard is a throwback to EQ/DaoC and is structured thus. It has been slightly dumbed down (fast travel etc) but it was designed to appeal to the old school MMOer and, unfortunately, due to the less than favorable launch, it went through some changes to try and attract the WoW crowd. It was never designed to do this, and so it didnt with any success.

    Thankfully, after a year and change, it is shaping up rather nicely and is becoming a haven for those who prefer an open world and a slightly more challenging environment. LotRo is a great game and Im not going to call it a WoW clone but the design philosophy behind LotRo is definitely more on a par with the "new" school of MMOs. While I think it is clearly superior to games such as WoW, it does not offer the kind of open world that VG does.

    I'll agree that LotRo has a far better "Lore Backbone" but then again, look what its drawing from. Vanguard can't really be expected to compete with that. In fact I'd go as far as to say that no MMO can compete with that. It is quintessentially the best story going as far as Fantasy based MMOs go. The total immersion factor in VG is better than LotRo IMHO. Night is scary. I rode from Veskal's up to Highbury Manor at about Midnight in game and I could hear wolves howling, there was a low mist and as the manor slowly came into view, I could see the dim lights flickering and the Demons and Vampires scuttling around in the Courtyard.

    Don't get me wrong I love them both. But LotRo is more of a casual MMO cut from the new cloth. VG is the last of a breed of MMOs I dont think we will see again for some time (if ever). The coming of the Idiocracy brings with it more AoC type games that I personally have no interest in.

    In the final analysis, enjoy them both as what I consider to be the best two MMOs on the market.

    Vanguard has got loads of lore, but to find most of it you have to go down the diplomacy route which is a whole game in it self.

    Check this link out Signus.  If anything ever surprised me, it was this post.  Silius and the team behind Vangaurd really do give a flip what we think and they're coming to us with questions and for suggestions.

    APW is a pseudo instance. It is an instance in the way that you are loaded into a seperate area from others. BUT, this instance is NOT locked out from other players. Anyone can zone into your instance as well. The developers built these multiple instances this way to try and avoid conflicts between raid forces, possibly attempting to go after the same mobs. I know this can take away from the "open world" sense. But trust me, it deters more problems than it takes away from the game.

    Personally i am against easy mode at all costs.. just because instances are less of a hassle at times doesnt make them better

    id like to report i had a nother great night in vangaurd yesterday.. ive started to harvest and am getting into crafting...

    whether there are a couple instances in vanguard or not.. i mean i hate instances.. but I know vanguard has vastly more open than anything I have played in many many years

    Its to bad that this 1 got off to a bad start, very much like aoc, anarchy, Horizons, etc but don't wish them ill will, but only success for these folks. But I won't lie for them or any other so called MMO call it like it is. Just maybe in another year Ill give it another try but my hopes are in for Bio-ware KOTOR.

    Yeah... i bought a new videocard and now i can run this game at 100% max settings... let me tell u: this game is not only good, its beautiful

    I think APW is pseudo instanced to prevent lag mostly (even 20+ raid groups on sunday afternoons).

    Your guild/raid can still enter same shard as other raids and even try to steal kills :)

    There are 6 shards I think and each has 2 or 3 raid groups going on busy nights.
