Question on Graphics

JBO1JBO1 Member Posts: 277

First off this is not a flame on EQ2 graphics...it's serious question. The scenery is crisp and the the landscape is awsome...but the characters seem so artificial....like they all have plastic surgery and were strech to be to smooth and shiny...you know what I mean?? At least from the picture I have seen. I played SWG and the characters seemed more realistic in a way...is that because it is in Alpha or am I looking at the wrong pictures?

Yeah, the "plastic" look to the Eq2 models are the only thing that i really dislike.  They are improving the texture models, they have already released half elf, dark elf, and human new skins.  Although in the character creation i really didn't notice the plastic look to them.  But its probly because i was so hyped up for it, i couldn't find any flaws, when i go back and look i'm sure i'll see a little bit of plastic.  But overall i like the Eq2 style of graphics.

In character creation they didnt have the plastic problem, maybe its because there were no bright light sources around, or maybe because they fixed it.. but i think the game looks much better in action than it does in screenshots.. and thats saying alot.

Yeah I dont like the looks of the char models either. The backgrounds and armor/weapons look killer but the chars.... I dunno theres just something wrong about them...I made some chars with the char creation CD I got but they still look plastic like....

Even though they look really cool they still look plasticy IMO.... These screens were taken with a Nvidia 6800 with max graphics FYI.

Okay cool...maybe it's something they need to iron out...I really like the generator in SWG and I heard they were going to do something similar in EQ2...so I was a little confused on those graphics.

They still have 3 months to go.  I'm not woried about it, i'm sure they'll remove the plastic look to the characters.

I'd be happy if they changed the gauntlets to look like actual gauntlets, rather than the oven mitts they look like in many of the screen shots.

I was never what you wanted, I could never never please.
I swallowed all our sorrow in the midst of my disease.
All my fortunes, all my gains, all the battles I have won...
Now collapsing like the rain, I stand alone, your only son...

Take some solace in these words, take notice of this place.
Hollow whispers that they are, like the wind upon my face.
Sing softly in my ear and look at me with wonder.
I will try to ease your fear as the darkness pulls you under.
