I've been playing online games, since the dawn of MUDs, and before that was (and still am) into pen and paper DnD. I really enjoy RPing, and normally play on the RP servers of the MMO's that I play. I just want to know, before I buy this game, if there is some good RPing, or at least RP guilds? I'm all for PvP, etc, but I like a bit of RP story to my play as well.

Here is a post from there: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=38831
1. Turn off the OOC Channel
Nothing is more grating at least on this roleplayer's nerves, then being in the middle of roleplaying only to see "[OOC]Roxxorz Says: WTFUPWNEDMEGRIEFER!" The OOC channel is a cesspool 90 percent of the time. If you want roleplay, turn that channel off big time.
2. Walk, Don't Run in Cities
Whether its Conarch Village, the Cimmerian Settlement in Conall's Valley, Old Tarantia, or Tesso in Wildlands, Khemi, or the village outside in Khopsur Province, walk around - don't run. This will likely draw other roleplayers to you. The more people do this, the more likely a roleplayer will find another roleplayer.
3. Aggressive, Not Passive
If you see someone standing in town on a horse, or someone -walking- around, or a group of people roleplaying - initiate the roleplay yourself. The other day my Cimmerian walked through Conarch and encountered another Cimmerian on a horse. He could have been a non roleplayer, but initiating it proved he wasn't, and there was a good ten minute IC conversation happening. Be aggressive in terms of initiating roleplay, don't expect it to come to you.
4. Campfires, Taverns, and Trees
If you find yourself semi-afk, or you're taking a break from a hunt but are staying in game - perhaps going through your inventory or messing with your feats - takes a sit by a fire, against a tree, or go inside one of the taverns. Again - other roleplayers tend to notice these things.
5. Ganking doesn't exist.
So you're roleplaying in the middle of Conall's. Perhaps you just slew a Vanir Chieftain, and are chatting with your fellow Cimmerian. Suddenly, a Stygian assassin takes out your buddy, and another takes you out as well. Do not assume the worst about him. Yes, he could be a griefer. Take it IC anyway. "That damnedable Stygian tried to gut me" is alot better then crying about it OOC. Instead of getting angry OOC, turn that frustration into IC frustration.
6. There is no death, only defeat.
If you get killed... you get defeated. Thats simple. You didn't magically heal, and you were never beheaded.
7. Real Auctions
So you have that awesome level 80 armor of atlantis or whatever the best armor is at 80... but you don't wear armor. Don't always just throw stuff up on the trade post - advertise an IC auction. Anyone who isn't IC about bidding isn't going to get the armor. Likely, some roleplayers may be attracted to this. Roleplayers like events.
8. Get Along
The eighth is truly one of the most important suggestions. Not everyone will like each other. Guild Alliances may hate each other IC, and love each other OOC. Sometimes, people might clash OOCly, think one group of roleplayers is horrible, and trash them. Don't. If you don't like a guild, deal with them anyway if they are a roleplay guild. Why? It's better to have a big roleplay community with different aspects, then tiny fragmented community with little pockets.
Anyway, I hope those help for those having issues with finding roleplay.
I constantly find people in game RP-ing, its a pretty decent server community. Sure there is the odd gank, but there already splinter alliances of guilds, drama and tribulations making the whole game experience that little bit more 'spicy' !
Anyway have a read thru the fourm and see what you think, the stickies are good info too, see what you think!
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I'll have to check it out!
