Restarting some questions...

Okay, AoC was a giant failure imo and I refuse to play it. So I'm going back to my roots until WAR, and UO is clearly dead.  I have some questions as it's been almost 4 years since I last played.  

 

1. What expansions do I need to play on classic servers?

 

2. How are class balance issues now, what do I want to stay away from class-wise. Also as I don't plan on investing alot of time into getting gear etc. what classes are less dependent?

 

3. Of the three classic servers which is most populated?

 

4. What're some real fast ways to level up?

1.  You don't need to buy anything 'til you get into the 30's, and honestly you don't "need" to buy any then.  They have a "package" offer to get both expansions together so if you do plan on upgrading down the road that's the way to go... but unless you get hooked again I wouldn't worry about it... just my 2 cents.

2. As far as being gear dependent goes same rules apply as day one really... casters = cash cow, lol.  With housing and the number of drops selling there you really shouldn't worry about not being able to get gear... play what class you will enjoy.  Balance is an issue that will differ from one player to the next, however there really isn't any one class that stands out as a "don't bother" class... this may have changed or will change overnight of course, lol.

3.  The classic servers are all clustered now, playing on one is the same as playing on another.  With that said I would pick Ector since it is the least populated, just for ease of finding a house lot.

4.  I'm one of those rare players who likes to PvE so I am the wrong person to ask about fast leveling... but I will say the XP has been cranked up to insane levels and takes WAY less time that it used to.  Soloing to 50 is even quick now.

Well, it's funny to see someone telling that AoC is a failure and heading to DAoC...

I left DAoC after 6 long years... damn, i'll never going back to what EA did. GL on that... but i can give some tips... hehe

My cabie was able to solo like hell and stuff... theurg as well, but got stuck and things got really hard on the last levels... cleric is always good, but if you're not a smiter, leveling will be really slow... Arms and pally... both are good to play and level, but melee only... sorcs, depending on how you build it, you can get a pet and a good DPS... Necro, awesome, great to level but carefull on specs (easy to mess up)... lol i  cant remember what else... i had 25-30 lvl 50s on that game.... 6 years, you know...

Well to give AoC credit where credit is due, it's a very pretty game, and the game will probably be awesome for Xbox live.

 

Thankyou guys very much for your quick advice, I appreciate it greatly. I'm considering rolling a mercenary, or berserker. As I enjoy dual wielding, and am not a big fan of hib, I'll check shit out again though, and thanks again.

On albs: cabie, theurg, necro, cleric, arms, pally, sorc, tic, mino, friar...

Hibs: shee... lol cant remember.,..

I got almost every class in game to lvl50.... lots of time in hands back then... but the best, where i met lots of great players, was in Albs/Guinevere... old RolePlay server, now screwed by EA...
