hey, would anyone be kind enough to explain some of the good aspects of the game for me? send me a PM please???

is there PvP? how does it work? when do you start fighting heroes/villains...does the game really make you feel like you're a comic book super hero later in the game? I only played up to level 5 and just couldnt get used to the funky controls...tell me is it worth getting used too???

The only thing I'll say about pvp is that I left the game because of it. I absolutely hate the pvp in CoV/CoH, it doesn't make sense to me. Now, reasons to play CoV would be the setting. There's nothing better then utilizing the immense character creation system and developing your own villain. That's only the appearance of him as well. The power sets and combinations as well as the archetypes themselves are GREAT fun. Once you hit 14 and get your travel power, it gets that much better. (I've personally had dreams where I could leap great distances, soaring thousands of feet in the air with each jump, so the Super Jump travel power was amazing for me). The setting in CoV is excellent as well, I like the gritty feel of despair and abandonment that presides in many of the maps. If there was ever a game made for roleplayers - this is it. And of course, all the cool little customization bonuses and temporary powers you can get are a nice bonus.

PvP is team based, most people who have issues with PvP look at it from a solo or duel mode. 1 vs 1 is off balanced, usualy a group of 2 or more makes the PvP more balanced, although there is more synergy on the Hero side vs the Villain side.

Funky controls? I don't know what your talking about, qweasd moves, space bar jumps, you can use the 1-0 keys to activate powers, tab to cycle through enemies. what's funky about that?

If you don't like that set up, you can adjust that in the keyboard options.

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

The controls are actually pretty sweet compared to most games like point and click to move, that just plain bites. It is great for role playing, you can really get into your character, but it really needs more PvP. It just cant be team battles in arena based combat, it needs more worldly feeling to it such as a Villian goes to rob a bank and heroes come to save the day and they battle for good and evil.

Its easy to pee in the toilet, but most of us dont.

yeah i think thats what would make the game 10000% times better, if heroes and villains actually came together in storylines...and it was actually possible to rob banks, and do more villainy stuff and heroes come to save the day...-shrug-

and i'm a fan of using the mouse to move by holding the buttons and just moving...wased are too close to the numbers for me -shrug- iunno I'm very picky

and RP really? is the RP in these games really good? do people actually stay in character alot after the newbie areas?

On Villian side you can do bank jobs, they are called Mayhem missions, those are available at level 5. you'll need to leave Mercy Island and get to the next zone. From there, you'll get your first newspaper contact. After doing a few missions for the newspaper, you then have the chance to rob a bank. Those are a blast, you go around destroying vehicles, and try to make it to the bank and out. This is timed and you can add more time to it by destroying things and defeating cops. The more damage you do, the more NPC Heroes will come to stop you. When you pull of the heist, you will be confronted by a named hero or one of the main heroes in CoH (these are also NPC)

At level 35 as a villain and hero you will have access to the Rikti Warzone and Cimerora. These are co-op zones for villains and heros can work together on missions and task forces

There is a click to move option if you prefer. Go to your options>controls and you can change it there.

You can also hold both mouse buttons down to run and move around that way.

Virtue is the "unofficial" RP Server. Although I don't RP much, I've found I usually fall into character when playing this game as opposed to others.

Yeah, I actually hate roleplayers and stay away from those servers/guilds, but surprisingly, the only roleplayers I've ever enjoyed have been in this game, they're all my friends now. I knew a dominator playing an alien among humans (he had an awesome costume), and he kept the speech and sentence syntax appropriate throughout 30+ levels, only breaking off when people had serious questions or concerns. The questions he asked and comments he made from his alien point of view were hilarious. This is the best game available to roleplayers out there imo.

pvp was an afterthought in this game, and was never intended to be a core system in the game.  As such, it is poorly implemented and without reward.  This is shocking due to the natural ability to have awesome pvp in a villain vs hero game...

That being said, they DO have gladiator battles, which is basically a player made selection of mobs vs another players selection of mobs.  This has some good merit in being unique to the genre.

Missions are instanced, and pretty repetitive, bosses are almost exclusively tank-n-spank, graphics are really showing their age...  and there is no end-game content.  Powerleveling is rampant (I believe the record on infinity is 39 hours from 1-50)

On the plus side...  it is one of the most fun games there is at low levels.  Before you realize that you will do thousands of missions in the same warehouse, it actually looks pretty cool.  And considering the game's age, it has some pretty unique systems, and it completely loot-less... well almost completely.  Which makes casual players really enjoy the game.
