it won't fail, but it probably won't reach the subscription numbers it could have reached with a more polished release and if they would have made different decissions on some things like pushing gfx that far so that zoning/instancing was needed.
how many subscribers it will have in a year will depend on how fast they are with fixing the bigger issues, and how much content they will add over time (especially for endgame).
