Never mind longest time on a MMORPG, longest time on any game was on a MMORPG.
Legend of Mir 2, well over 3 years, for the first 2 years it was nearly every day .... sad i know the last year was most weekends. i got disillusioned with the way game was run the game was still adictive as ever.
UO for 4 months (back when it was AMAZING)...I do not understand how some of you guys can play the same mmorpg for 2 years lol!!!! I mean wouldnt it just feal repetitive and blahhh
I played Ultima Online for about a year and 6 months. Then I picked up Everquest which kept me very happy for almost 2 years. Those were probably the best years of my mmorpg playing so far.
Then I got Dark Age of Camelot. At first I loved it, played for a year straight, but got annoyed at my lack of progress and the lack of roleplayer and quit (same reason I quit EQ).
I tried Anarchy Online for a few months, and that was a few months too long. I hate that game.
Then I played World War II Online. Another game that wasn't finished . . . I left after a couple of months.
Back to DAoC for a few months. It was fun again, and I started to see more RP'ers which was nice. Mythic was making some changes that improved the game . . .
Then Star Wars Galaxies finally arrived. I played the Beta and got the game at release. I played right up until yesterday when I let my account expire. So after a little over a year, I am taking my leave of SWG. It's not because of any other reason than I want to play a game in a fantasy setting again. I love SWG and I will probably return.
During SWG, I tried Horizons. It was an inferior game, but it has some great crafting. I left after a few months. I'm glad I tried it, too bad it wasn't very good.
I then got Final Fantasy XI Online. It reminded me a lot of Everquest. I enjoyed it for the first few months. It got very annoying looking for groups, though. The grind got to me, and the lack of roleplayers made me say goodbye after just 3 or 4 months.
I played Lineage II. Grind, grind, grind, grind ,grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind. Then I quit.
I got City of Heroes and played for 2 months. It's a great game and so much fun, but I need a mmorpg that goes deeper than just combat.
Now I am trying out the Asheron's Call 2 Trial and enjoying it. I may subscribe after the 15 days are up.
Next I am waiting on World of Warcraft and Everquest II. Both games are really high on my most wanted list and I have very high expectations of them. Whichever comes out first I will buy and play. I already pre-ordered EQ2 but I think WoW is coming first. I plan on giving them both a fiar trial before I pick the one I want to stay with . . . that's when I will move to Alaska with only my dog and my computer . . . I might leave the dog.
Dark and Light looks good, I want to try that too. The Matrix Online, maybe.
Further on down I want Vanguard and maybe . . . just maybe, I'll give Middle Earth Online a try. I said I would skip that one because I didn't have faith in Turbine to do Tolkein justice, but I guess I owe it to myself to give it a try. I just hope it doesn't ruin the excellent picture of the books and movies I have in my head. . . .
Overall I've played mmorpgs since the late 90's when UO came out and I have been playing non-stop, continuing on.
Everquest for about 3 yrs everyday for a few hours. Could only get away with this in highschool, don't have time for that anymore and probably never will again. But those were the best gaming years of my life.

DAoC played for 2.5 years. Played other games before and since (currently Horizons 2 months) while I take a break.
When New Frontiers hits the European servers I will return to DAoC hopefully with a new lease of life.
I played DAoC for 1 year and at the moment i 'm thinking about a comeback
