Shut up

Although many of you feel that you're working towards some greater good, the majority of posts on this forum are sad. Many users frequent these forums to get valuable user feedback on whether or not an MMO is worth playing.

As much as most of you would like to believe that you're on the upper tier of human intelligence, the posts on AoC have clearly shown that you're a bunch of dumbasses and that your opinions are worthless when it comes to a "review" of a game.

I've seriously seen the same 2 posts/blogs on this site for atleast 2 weeks now (I think?). It's either Age of Conan sucks and isn't finished or Age of Conan is the MMO we've all been waiting for. Also, each post covers the same topics without actually going into any important depth. I find myself (and I assume others do as well) scrounging these forums for information on what exactly this game is about. Every review is filled with broad statements of bullshit and it's seriously pathetic.

I guess I've lost my faith in this community over the past couple weeks. There's only a few things I can say about AoC from all of your personal reviews and most of it is assumptions on my part:

-The content staggers around lvl 40+

-There's general bugs (I would've never guessed)

-There's compatibility issues (especially with ATI cards)

-Combos are almost worthless in PvP

-People love the early game

-There's Instances/Zones

-Spawn camping is not prevented by game mechanics

Sweet, now how the FUCK am I going to decide whether or not this game is for me or not? I know nothing about combat, magic, the way quests work, how important/fun grouping is, etc...

I realize it's not up to any one of you, or all of you, to write reviews for other people to decide whether or not a game is right for them. Let's be honest here though, why the hell would you be posting your personal opinion if not to sway the readers? That's what many of you are attempting to do and you're doing a poor job at it.

Good job, MMORPG.com community, you're all a bunch of douchebags.

Bravo, Bravo. Fantastic way to ask questions and figure stuff out.

    Need a hug?

The only way to gauge if a game is for you is to try it yourself. Any review (professional or personal) will try to sway the reader and is all based on opinions of that person.

I know it sucks that MMOs never have a free trial when they launch (free 30days doesnt really count as a free trial when you spend $50 to get said 30 days free).

The only thing I can tell you is to either pay the $50, wait for the buddy code system to work or until they release a free trial online. Thats the only way you'll truely know if the game is for you.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

It would take a real conversation for me to get the answers I need (too much back and forth), and the main point of this is that I'm not the only one with questions.

Why don't you go make a worthwhile post for me and others to read so that this thread becomes irrelevant?

His post count is only 16, he's a forum alt. Looks like he knew he would probably get banned and planned ahead of time how he was going to evade the powers that be (the moderators)

Here's my situation - I was having some fun playing the game in a guild on Cimmeria, saving up money to donate to my guild. Then the mail system screwed me. Until that point, I was going to keep playing despite all the obvious flaws and general unfinished feeling to the game.

But when my petition was deleted with no response, that was it for me. I saw on the forums that other people had the same exact problem - lose gold when using their in-game mail feature, /petition, wait 5 hours, and then right when its your turn, petition closed. You think that people like me would actually recommend this game to anyone at that point? Funcom deserves everything coming to them.

Read the official forums right now, it's actually quite amusing. The game is sinking. Fast. This isn't doomsday talk, it's the damn truth. And it's getting worse every day.

I only have this one account. I'm not really a writer as much as I am a reader. I agree with a lot of things that MMO lovers have posted on these forums in the past and I'm trying to be patient about waiting for that one game that most of us are waiting for.

Nice attempt on the Troll, Troll.

This topic goes against the whole idea of these forums.

I feel sorry for you, Slyhte. It's a shame that such a seemingly simple mechanic is broken and that they aren't doing whatever they can to adress your concern. Thanks for your post.

everything he said was pretty mush true

Thanks man, it's funny that you're the first person who actually said they feel bad for me, and that was all I ever wanted.  /sniffle

Just kidding of course, but seriously. If a simple game mechanic like mail doesn't even work right, i really shudder to think about what will happen when sieging comes out. Who knows, maybe it will be great. But if the mail doesn't work, then catapulting another guild's keep doesn't seem like a realistic situation, at least any time soon.

I didn't report him someone already beat me to it. I was going to report him because he's obviously a forum alt simply starting up trouble to get attention

Bah, I'd never tell the posters here to STFU. Its to much fun to watch the trolls, and the Drama queens say how this game is doomed and getting worse, etc etc. (as they have said about every mmo ever released.) Yes its a bunch of BS from their land of make believe where of course they are the ultimate authority on everything. Sure if you take it in the wrong light you could have your doubts on Humanity as a whole, but on the flip side you gotta feel better about when one compares oneself to the avarage ignorant, selfserving, self important troll poster here.

these forums are all about finding out whats bad with a game before you put your money or time into it, look at all the other games, a majority of the posts are either fanboy's saying how its the best game ever or people who have had problems or didnt like it.  if i wanted to know why a game is great id go the webpage and read what the people who made the game think, if i want to know what the truth is, for the most part, i come here.

chances are if i see enough posts complaining about a problem or situation that irritates me or would cause me to quit then i wont play it, of if its free to play ill try it untill that problem happens to me and quit.

so take your fanboy blind love for the game and make a post about it or add to the countless other fanboy posts, leave the threads about whats wrong or dissatisfaction to those who feel the need to voice their problems

to the OP, I can only share what I experienced in Beta, as I didn't buy the game.

From what I recall the combat was involving. It was kind of button mashing for combo's, you could move away from attackers to avoid being hit, much like DDO. I didn't notice any melee combo's for spell casters, but that's because the beta only let you get to level 13, so I can't say that spell casters did not get combo's later on.  As for spellcasting itself, if you've played a spellcaster in any other game, I'd say it is par for the course.

As for quests, many of the quest givers have the standard Icon over their heads, and they were more of the same, go here-get that-bring it back, go here-kill that-report back etc. I noticed that after speaking with most of the quest givers, that many of the quests themselves were instanced.

I saw absolutely zero crafting in the beta.

The graphics were stunning even on medium, but my PC ran sluggish, and the graphics weren't so great on low.

I know I didn't answer all of your questions, but I tried to give you the best I could from what I recall.

You're the type of psuedo-intellectual I was referring to in my original post. This is my only account, get over it.

    Thanks.

Wierd, wheres the flames at FOH?

Anyway there is to much credit given to negative posts.

I would say that one positive post weights alot more then a couple of negative ones. I would say that you can read tens of negative post saying why you should buy a game, and then see one positive saying something you see as fun and then pick up the game to test it.

But you will note the negativity more. People are most likely to complain about things they don't like rather then praising what is good. The good things come granted, we expect them to be there when we like here buy a game for enjoyment.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
